Lynchburg Area Football

All of those teams will do well this year. Interested to see how the rest of the Seminole teams that were not there look this fall. Glass graduating a bunch but Lovelace & Company should have them near the top. Amherst in their 2nd year with Moore. Brookville with a whole "new" coaching staff. And Liberty's young group from last year should have a lot more experience going into this season.
No doubt. I thought the Seminole was down last year. With more experience from the younger teams, it will be a much tougher district. I'm definitely rooting for Liberty. Most of the team was Freshmen and sophomores, so they should compete with being a year away if they all stick with the program. Amherst always has good athletes, so I expect them to be back in the mix. Brookville has some great young talent and with the new staff, they'll compete. Give them a year, and they'll be a top team in Class 3. Glass has probably the best group of receivers in the district, and a good quarterback in Calloway who can get the ball to them. The biggest question mark is up front.

Went to the Lynchburg 7 v 7 at Heritage Monday, and stayed for as long as my allergies would allow me.
Teams in attendance were:
Heritage
LCA
Altavista
Appomattox
Rustburg
JF

Its always good to see how much these guys grow from year to year. I was impressed by Altavista's size, for a Class 1 team, the brought a good amount of guys to the event and held their own. LCA with their experience looks the part as well. They didn't have Gideon for the first few sessions, but they were still able to convert on some plays, once Gideon stepped on the field, it was game over. From what I seem Heritage is back, they had some of their bigs dressed out as well, and they've got some size. The last time heritage has had this kind of size was back in the Lala days. They've got a good group of receivers as always and I expect Slash to make some more noise after having a good sophomore campaign. Defense looks like they will have a good back 7. Heirtage got a blessing back in Brayden Morgan at outside linebacker. He was there his freshman year, then spent 2 seasons at Glass where he was a turnover creating machine, especially on special teams. Look for him to help in the running game as well. JF also looks like they will compete again this year. They will have a new QB. Appomattox looks like they will be young, but still in that Dogwood conversation. Rustburg looking good as well. Got some pretty good corners and are working with a new quarterback.

Any thoughts on the Lynchburg area?

I totally understand and I'm the opposite I haven't really seen Huguenot mainly bc of their schedule--- I thought some players missed your list and I know we all have the right to make our own list instead of jumping on you for yours--- a few kids I still think that were left off was
QB Tatum Hopewell
QB Medley T. DALE
Two quality quarterbacks. Last season was their first seasons starting on varsity, I expect bigger seasons for them both. Like any list... you add two to it, you got to take two out.

@MaroonDude There are some very good linemen in the 804.

@DMVmonster Hopewell has a few guys who definitely make the cut, but I don’t follow their program close enough to know their guys. I’ve seen every kid I posted play live and up close. Tee Jay and Armstrong will also be very good this year. Definitely have some kids who could be on the list.

@mike salem well said. I’d definitely make an argument for @DinwiddieProud and @BleedingNavy young man Zion Bossieau. I think him, Kaleb Wyche (Varina) and CJ Scott (Huguenot) will put the Central Region on the map as far as QB goes.

@HooSprings I made the correction. Brennan is one of the best linebackers I’ve seen on the high school level. If I could add anymore of yours, I’d add Demari Lassiter.

Another kid to keep an eye on is OL/DL Daron Thompson at Huguenot. He’s a MANCHILD! I’d also throw in Jaden Baskerville at Varina. 6’4 250, has a couple of D1 offers and is just a sophomore.

Anything posted on this site is going to be through the lens of the person who posts it. Bo knows the overall state as well as any poster I know. Most posters are not going to be that well versed on the whole state. Most posters are going to be most familiar with their team, their regional area, or their Class of football. For example, when you see a post by me, you know I'm going to be most knowledgeable about Salem, I'm pretty knowledgeable about the Roanoke and Lynchburg areas, I know most about C3/4, I'm probably familiar with the best teams in the state and I probably know the big name players in the state, but I wouldn't consider myself an expert on other areas of the state or higher and lower classifications. I could probably tell you the history of past champions throughout most of the state for the last 40 years, but I'm definitely not knowledgeable enough about 703, 757, or 804 to tell you anything beyond the teams to keep your eye on.

Also, people watch for different things when they watch a game. The game begins and ends with the LOS, but a lot of people watch where the ball goes and not what caused the hole to open up or what sprang the skill guy to make the play. (I'm guilty of this myself) The OL/DL doesn't usually get the credit they deserve unfortunately.

Just keep those things in mind when you read someone's post.
