Way to go Clintwood Green Wave! When the new school opens next year, the trophy case will proudly hold the last Girls Basketball State Championship earned by your former high school. I wish you luck in the years to follow after consolidation. Work together. The two are now one. I assume that Ridge View will be 2A, is that correct?? If so, I also assume that they will be in the Clinch Mountain (#40) with Central-Wise and Gate City. Looks like a tough conference is going to be even tougher. I think that 2A West will also continue to have a strangle-hold on the East at tournament time.

Always nice to see a team that has made such a long trip have something to show for it. But in this case, there sadly also had to be a losing team. This match-up just proves something I have thought all along. The tournament should be spread out some way or provisions made for situations like this so as to move the game some place where more fans could see it.

For example, if "championship week" lasts until Saturday, once it was determined that these were the top two 1-A teams, why couldn't that game have been pushed back to Friday or Saturday and moved somewhere down there?

sad to say, wave will not be around to defend their title, as they return mostly everone, but 2 grads....with the influx of a very talented haysi squad.... 2A better look out..... i believe those clintwood girls, have been getting some of our pigskin players SOUPBEANS AND CORNBREAD!!!! LOL.... YALL TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS/......
