Final Score: Benedictine 34 St. Christopher's 15

It was a beautiful Fall afternoon from Bobby Ross Stadium as the much anticipated VISAA State Semi finals kicked off at 2:00 between two great schools and a great rivalry between the Cadets and Saints. Both teams earned their spot to this game but only one would prevail to the state championship next weekend. Late in the first quarter in was the Saints who struck first with a long pass and catch for a TD and the early 7-0 lead.

That lead was short lived however as Donoven Tennyson took the kickoff back for a touchdown for the second week in a row tying the score at 7-7. The Cadets offense got their first touchdown of the game as Senior Tailback Ramon Jones scampered in from 2 yards out and a 14-7 Cadet lead. Midway through the 2nd half the Saints got a big play on special teams securing a safety and cutting the lead to 14-9. Right before half the Saints struck again on a touchdown but the 2-point conversion failed.

The score going into the locker room was 15-14 St. Christopher's. The Cadets refocused as they came out for the 2nd half and did so in a big way! It was all Cadets in the third quarter as they reeled off three straight touchdowns to take a commanding 34-15 lead.

The first touchdown Bracey scampered in for a 1 yard run to give the Cadets a lead that they would not relinquish. Then it was a beautiful pump fake screen pass that got the Saints defense to bite and a wide open David Pilot ran it in for a 62 yard touchdown. Finally, the offensive play of the game and what put the game out of reach was Alex Williams turned in a regular run up the middle to a 48 yard touchdown as he broke tackles and bounced off of defenders in a run that was simply spectacular to watch. The fourth quarter the defense held strong throughout and kept the Saints off of the board.

Bracey went 6-9 for 137 yards and 1 touchdown While Williams and Jones led the running game with 165 yards and 2 touchdowns combined. Pilot led the stout receiving corps with three catches, 102 yards, and 1 touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball it was the Linebacker show as the triple threat of Ellis, McDonald, and Dunn combined for 36 tackles (14, 12, 10) and 3.5 sacks. Coley also had 5 tackles and a sack as well.

The Cadets beat the Saints on the grid iron for the 5th time in 4 years, but none bigger than this win which propels the Cadets to the State Championship next Saturday against the Bishop Ireton Cardinals right here from Bobby Ross Stadium. Time will be announced as soon as it is finalized. Way to Go Cadets and let's get 1 more for all the marbles!
