The Hopewell Blue Devils pieced together their best season since their 2003 state championship campaign as they won 11 of 14 games this season advancing to the state semifinals where they fell to Lord Botetourt in a 28-17 contest.
College coaches have taken notice of the talent on the roster as a trio of Blue Devils picked up offers on Monday.
Senior Ronnie Monroe, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound two-way standout at wide receiver and cornerback grabbed an invite from Bluefield College. This represents his first college offer.
Then Vic Figueroa, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound strong safety/wide receiver, and Lavon Cottemond, a 6-foot-2, 285-pound offensive lineman, were offered by UVA-Wise. The offer marks the third for Figueroa who has previously been extended invites from both Bluefield and VMI while Cottemond now holds four offers including West Virginia State, Bluefield and Virginia Union.
