Freshman quarterback Jayden White looks deep for an 85 yard touchdown connection with Zykeem Fields.

COURTLAND- Southampton and Greensville both came in looking for a big with that could help seeding or just start the conversation of playoffs. The Eagles have a young but talented group who received a wake up call in their lost to Thomas Jefferson a few weeks back. Southampton was looking for defensive consistency after failing in a close one and going into 5 overtimes to win. A win tonight could definitely ignite one of the team's charge for the post season.

The preseason pick to win the Tri-Rivers, Greensville showed their youth and vulnerability early when a snap was mishandled by freshman quarterback Jayden White and would be recovered by Brandon Williams for the Southampton touchdown. The Indians would recover a fumble in the end zone for the critical 2 points. 8-0 with 8:54 to play in the 1st quarter. Greensville would answer with nice runs from Kendel Blue. The drive would end with White scrolling in from 12 yards out. Southampton up 8-6 with 7:48 left to play in the 1st.

Eagles would recover a Southampton fumble at the Indian 19. Southampton's defense would stop the Eagles offense cold. Unfortunately, the Indians would fumble the ball back to Greensville, setting them up at the Indian 10 yard line. Blue would race in from 10 yards out and he would run the conversion making it 14-8 with 5:24 to play in the 1st.

In the 2nd quarter, the Indians would press the issue. Derek Bynum would find Shaquil Jarrett for a 22 yard touchdown pass for the score. 14-14 tied at the 11:34 mark of the 2nd quarter. The crowd was very pumped and the Greensville was looking for answers.

Jarrett was left in the flat and was able to score early for 22 yard touchdown.

The answer they needed would be right in the backfield as Blue would blur down the field on a 44 yard touchdown run to silence the crowd. Kemory Skykes would power in for the conversion to give the Eagles back the lead 22-14.

Southampton was looking to tie the game up when a pass was thrown into the corner of the end zone would be intercepted by Lezhan Peebles. Soon after the Eagles would leave the crowd with the mouths open when White would find Zykeem Fields for an 85 yard touchdown strike. The Eagles would keep that lead to the half and the end of the 3rd quarter.

Southampton would get a big play from Jimmie Reid who would explode for an 87 yard run that captured the momentum back with 9:19 left in the 4th.

Eagles would respond at Sykes would break a 36 yard run that make the belief of a comeback seem bleek. De'Jon Harris would get the conversion. 44-22 Greensville with 7:36 to play in the game. Sykes would hit paydirt again with 4:38 to play and thats how it would close out giving the victory to Greensville.
