Jamari Garner of Greensville County powers away from defenders for 1st down yardage.

FRANKLIN- The Franklin Broncos came in trying to get a big win to help lock up a playoff berth to have something to build on. It would also be homecoming for the Broncos and everything looked top notched honoring the many people who have been affected by breast cancer. With so much going on you would think everything just had to go right for the mighty Broncos right? Greensville County had other plans.

Nothing indicated that the Broncos could possibly end up in one of their biggest losses under coach Darren Parker. It was a first quarter grudge match as each defense shined making solid plays against the run. Greenville’s Isaiah Seaborn will just be a bit out of touch with the deep balls early and helped the Broncos a lot. Things would begin to go left late in the 1st quarter when the Eagles would get an interception at the Bronco 41-yard line. Soon after in the 2nd quarter Jamari Garner would go in from 15-yards out to make it 6-0 at the 10:45 mark.

Franklin will turn it over on downs on their next possession and Seaborn would strike DeAndre Anderson for 39-yard touchdown pass to make it 12-0. Then on the next possession Anderson would grab an interception with 6:37 to play before the half. Seaborn would reward Anderson with a 35-yard touchdown pass to make it 18-0 at the 5:30 mark of the 2nd quarter. And at the 4:44 mark, Greensville would force a fumble making and with 2:03 before the half Garner would go in for the score. 24-0 at the half with Greensville County in control.

DeAndre Anderson had a huge night with 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on the night.

To begin the 2nd half, LaSean Nichols-Porter with make a mistake by not running up field on a kick-off but ran parrellal to the goal line and would get tackled at the 1-yard line. The next play the Franklin offensive line would get overwhelmed by the Eagle’s defense and they would record a safety. 26-0 Greensville County at the 11:45 mark of the 2nd. Seaborn would later find Jaden Young for a 47-yard touchdown pass to make it 32-0 Eagles with 9:18 left in the 3rd quarter. The next Franklin possession would end with Greensville blocking the punt. Garner would run it in from 3-yards out and Robert Mullins IV would convert the 1st conversion for the Eagles on the night. 40-0 with 7:07 left in the 3rd.

Greensville would drive down the field and have Seaborn sneak it in from 2-yards out while Garner would get the conversion on a run to make it 48-0 with 2:59 left in the 3rd.

Isaiah Seaborn would break lose for a 45-yard run to set up an Eagles' score.

Nichols-Porter would eliminate the thought of a homecoming shutout when he would return the kick-off 62-yards off a teammates fumble for a touchdown to make it 48-6 with 2:36 left in the 3rd. Greensville would not be out done as Anderson would take the ensuing kick-off 70-yards the score to make it 56-6 following Garner’s conversion run with 2:09 left in the 3rd quarter.

Franklin would get on the board again as Myroen Barrett would find Drelyn Ford for a 54-yard touchdown pass to make it 56-12 with 9:42 left to play in the game. Greensville would give Seaborn another chance to connect with Anderson. This time it would be a 52-yard hitch in which Anderson would race the rest of the way to make it 64-12. Jesse Arrington would close out the scoring with a powerful run that made it 70-12.

Coach Darren Parker will try to find the answers next week versus Windsor.

Greensville County now sets up a big match up for another road game. Coach Mario Walton’s Eagles (6-2) will travel to Sussex Central (7-1). Greensville has a chance to make up in the seeding.

Franklin (2-6) will travel to Windsor (0-8) for what they hope will be a win. The Broncos still have a shot of making the playoffs with all others racing for the final spots in the 1A race loss.
