Coach Littleton Parker soundly beat their rival and will get ready for a playoff run.

Southampton was coming off an upset loss to Park View while Franklin had to win in order to guarantee being in the playoffs. Well, Southampton looked as if they had something to play for and not the Broncos. The Indians dominated in every aspect of the game.

Southampton started the game with Shamon Reid-Wilkerson going 61-yards for the game opening score to make it 6-0 in favor of the Indians at the 11:14 mark of the 1st. Franklin would fumble at their own 20 and then Tayriel Ruffin would stroll in for a 7-yard run with 9:59 to play in the first. Then Lamonte Spencer would get an interception for the Indians in Franklin territory and the Ruffin would go in from 9-yards out at the 6:20 mark.

After that score Ruffin would then be ready to take off. With 3:50 left in the 1st quarter, Ruffin would explode for a 79-yard touchdown run to make it 28-0 Indians.

The crowd would be witness to greatness as Ruffin would dazzle the crowd again with a 63-yard run with 10:40 left to play in the 2nd quarter. The young man was in his groove as on the next possession Ruffin would go 70-yards for another score to make it 42-0 with 5:31 before halftime.

Coach Littleton Parker would rest Ruffin for the rest of the game after another carry. Jonathan Hall would bust through for an 8-yard run to make it 49-0 at the halftime. Southampton would add another score as Demonte Holiday would score on a 10-yard run as Southampton rolled their rival Franklin 56-0.

Ruffin would rush for a game high 297 yards off 9 carries and 5 touchdowns on the night. Southampton (7-3) is expected to host in the first round while Franklin (3-7) season comes to an end. It will be the first time since 2000 that Franklin did not make the playoffs and the very first under Darren Parker.

Extra Point
Depending on the official results it could be possible to Greensville County at Goochland on November 17th. Poquoson plays in the Bay Rivers district and appears to be tied with the Bulldogs. The Eagles are quite possibly the fastest team in 2A football. It could be a huge match up pending the final results.

Colonial Beach should get a shot at Sussex Central again on November 17th. The Drifters are playing ahead of their time with a young squad. The Tigers lost two games due to or set up by turnovers. If the Tigers can limit the turnover battle then they can venture far again.

Essex winning the top seed will have a very favorable bracket as a result of clinching the top seed. They have secured home field advantage all the way to Salem. Region A hosts Region B in the state semi-finals this season.
