From the #4 seed, the Landstown Eagles notched a pair of double-digit victories in the playoffs to win the Maury Summer League Playoffs in Norfolk.

Led by a strong effort from 5-foot-10 guard Tyriq Nady from the Class of 2016, the Eagles pulled away from the host Commodores 40-29 in the Championship. That followed up by an impressive outing the day before in the semifinals, where they opened the second half on a 9-0 run to break open a one-point game at the half in their 55-42 victory over Bethel.

Bethel, which got 20 points from guard Damian Knowlin in defeat, had beaten Landstown twice before in the league. The Bruins' only other loss was to Maury, which rallied from a 25-20 deficit at the half to defeat Kellam 48-45.

Incoming freshman guard Chase Coleman (5'9") - the younger brother of ex-Maury star and Class of 2017 four-star Matt Coleman of Oak Hill - led the way for the Commodores in their win over Kellam with 19 points, including four makes from three-point territory. Anthony Williams, a rising senior wing, added 12 points.

In the loss for Kellam, 6-foot-5 forward Noah Singer from the Class of 2016 scored 17 points, 15 in the first half.

Landstown got steady play throughout from Class of 2016 guard Maurice Jones, who scored 19 points and was a perfect 8-of-8 from the foul line in the semis vs. Bethel. Nady chipped in 10 points in that win, while incoming freshman Mike Christmas (6'4") showed promise in the paint.

Although Coach Dwight Robinson's team must replace two-time All-State center Darius Bolstad, who's off to play his College Basketball at Radford, the Eagles return three starters on the perimeter in Nady, Jones and three-point shooting threat Daryus Evans. Six-foot-3 wing Darius Wallace looks to take on a bigger role after being a sub a season ago with a distinct possibility of being a key starter for a Landstown program that has made back-to-back trips to the State Tournament in Group 6A.
