One of the more explosive players in the state, Hampton's Dazz Newsome has started picking up scholarship offers with Iowa State recently extended him an invite.

The rising junior turned in a big season for the Hampton Crabbers helping the storied program notch a 12-1 record falling only in the state quarterfinals until their 21-17 loss to Indian River.

In perhaps the best individual effort of the 2015 season in the state, Newsome scored seven touchdowns against Gloucester in a 76-7 win over the Dukes. In the contest, Dazz returned two punts for scores (54 and 73 yards), returned an interception 46 yards on a pick six, found the end zone twice on receptions of 27 and 69 yards and rushed for scores from 1 and 6 yards out.

On the season, he totaled nearly 900 yards receiving and scored 18 touchdowns.

His efforts during his junior campaign earned him a first-team all-state position as a punt returner and a second-team spot as a wide receiver.

Newsome is reportedly also receiving interest from Boston College, Purdue, Marshall, North Carolina, Penn State, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
