As I listened to the guys on ESPN mope about TCU falling three spots, I thought, "What would happen if these teams were playing under the VISAA points system?" I couldn't resist. I had to know.
I decided to count FBS teams as 12-point teams and FCS teams as 10-point teams, with opponent win points exactly as usual and no bonus points since no one really played "up a division."
RANKINGS GOING INTO THE FINAL WEEK
1.) Florida State (12-0) (17.92)
2.) Alabama (11-1) (16.92)
3.) Ohio State (11-1) (16.83)
4.) Texas Christian (10-1) (16.09)
5.) Oregon (11-1) (16.08)
6.) Baylor (10-1) (15.36)
FINAL RANKINGS
1.) Florida State (13-0) (18.23)
2.) Alabama (12-1) (17.31)
3.) Ohio State (12-1) (17.23)
4.) Oregon (12-1) (16.54)
5.) Baylor (11-1) (15.92)
6.) Texas Christian (11-1) (15.92)
Playoff matchups: Ohio State vs. Alabama, Oregon vs. Florida State (same as determined by committee, just in different seeded order, Baylor and TCU still left out of playoffs in the same order they were left out by committee).
Thought that was somewhat interesting.
