Roanoke Catholic opened their defense of 2-time State championship with a rout of King & Queen Central High School. Sophomore Kawuan Ray had three touchdowns; two rushing and one kickoff return. Ray also had two sacks coming off the edge at defensive end. Another sophomore, fullback Elamin Shareef, also had three rushing touchdowns.

Trinity Episcopal won an exciting game against Bishop O Connell in a game that went down to the final second. Taylor Eggers drove the offense 99 yards in the final two minutes which was capped off by a 16 yard touchdown run by Patrick Way for a 46-41 win.

Nansemond Suffolk spotted visiting North Cross a 7-0 halftime lead then exploded for 34 points in the 2nd half to defeat the Raiders 34-7. Quarterback Ian McAninley was 17 of 20 passing for 293 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Zac Morris hauled in five receptions for 147 yards and two touchdowns while Ehron Knight had five receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown. Running back George Pettaway carried 13 times for 133 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, Seth Townsend was the star with 6.5 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Bishop Sullivan won a no-contest victory over Norfolk Christian in the 1st meeting between the two TCIS schools since 2014. Bishop Sullivan hasn't faced a TCIS opponent in more than two years and Norfolk Christian was very hospitable to the Crusaders turning the ball over 3 of the first 4 times they had the ball on offense. Junior running back Lawrence LJ Johnson was the beneficiary of the turnovers scoring three rushing touchdowns including a 20-yard touchdown run to give the Bishop Sullivan a 21-0 lead with 6:48 to go in the 1st quarter. Sophomore quarterback Colt Minson added touchdown strikes to V.J Johnson (who made a 1-handed catch), and senior John Ransom in the 1st quarter.

Isle of Wight took advantage of some Atlantic Shores miscues to defeat the Seahawks 27-0. Senior Hunter Edwards had touchdown runs from 19 and 11 yards in the 1st half and finished the game with 29 carries for 140 yards. Quarterback Ryan Boyce ran and threw a touchdown pass in the 4th quarter and finished the game with 87 yards passing and 52 yards rushing.

Blessed Sacrament Huguenot had 521 yards rushing in their 51-34 shootout win over Broadwater Academy. Michael Kemp had 13 carries for 169 yards while Kemper Roudabush had 22 carries for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Trevor Parker had 14 carries for 129 yards and three touchdowns. Chase Musselman added 10 carries for 57 yards and two 2-point conversions.
