Senior Brandon Slater suffered a wrist injury that could possibly shut down his season but he persevered. He was the only Panther to score in double-figures in both games at Virginia State with 15 points in the semi-finals and 13 points in the championship game.

The Panthers have two of the top prospects in both the 2019 and 2020 class. Junior Anthony Harris scored 16 points in the championship win over Bishop O Connell with two treys and two steals. He had eight points in the semi-final win against St Stephens-St Agnes. Sophomore Jeremy Roach had 21 points in the semi-final win over St Stephens-St Agnes with three triples, five rebounds and three assists. Roach had only five points in the title game but he had three steals and five assists.

Junior Joshua Oduro (6-foot-8) had a great championship game for Paul VI finishing around the basket and hitting the boards. Oduro finished with 10 points, 9 rebounds and two blocks. He has offers from Towson and Lafayette. He is getting interest from A10, CAA and Patriot League schools.

Matt Becht scored 30 points to help Bishop O Connell defeat Trinity Episcopal. The Knights jumped out to a big lead but Trinity Episcopal slowly chipped away at the lead. But every time the Titans made a run it seemed like Becht would be left open behind the three point line and he made them pay. Becht finished 7 of 12 from behind the arc while making a three in every quarter. He was held in check during the title game making two treys in the 1st quarter for his only points of the game.

Charlie Weber was a 3rd team All-WCAC and recently picked up an offer from Mount St Mary. He had two good offensive games during the state tournament scoring 11 points with eight rebounds in the semi-final win and adding a team-high 17 in the state title game. Weber made three treys during the two games. Weber is stretch-four wing who had to battle against two of the more physical players in Armando Bacot and Joshua Oduro. He has two offers from Mount Saint Mary’s and American University.

Bishop O Connell reach the championship game by defeating Trinity Episcopal despite a dominating performance from junior Armando Bacot who finished with 45 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and three steals, Bacot scored 27 points in the 4th quarter alone including a 3-pointer. Bacot scored at will down low converting baskets at every angle. Sophomore Henry Coleman has a lot of potential and he scored all nine of his points in the second half to go along with four rebounds and three assists.

Junior Jared White (6-foot-7) was the only St Stephens-St Agnes player in double figures with 14 points. Junior Charles Thompson (6-foot-8) added nine points and seven rebounds. Thompson was an All-State football player.
