Despite the weather many played and the strong contenders are starting to make themselves known. Lets take a look at some of the action.

KJ Dameron goes in for the Trojans first score.

#7 ESSEX 42 FRANKLIN 6

After a fake punt jabbed the Trojans in the gut to wake them up, Essex carried the fight the rest of the way. The rain never played a factor in the execution of the Trojan offense who looked polished. Tim Johnson, KJ Dameron, and Terrell Hundley all came up big on the scoring column and Ashton Ashlock seemed poised all night long. Coach Todd Jones had his group focused and ready to play on a big game level and looked every bit like a contender.

BRUTON 28 KING WILLIAM 14

King William couldn’t get their rushing game going as Marc Gresham was held in check with getting only 30 yards on 15 carries. The passing game was the only bright spot as Lance Alfonso threw for 190 yards in which Gresham accounted for 8 receptions for 122 yards. Big plays in the 4th by the Panthers hurt the Cavaliers and put the game out of reach. The Cavaliers go to a resurgent Essex on Friday.

GREENSVILLE COUNTY 12 NOTTOWAY 8

The Eagles remain undefeated with a big victory in Crewe. Greensville will host Thomas Jefferson of Richmond Friday night.

WEST POINT 27 RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY 10

Starting the season on the right note, West Point got a tune up for their big game Friday versus Rappahannock. Rapp County gave a tougher effort than predicted.
