Some teams let others know they aren’t a joke either and others are showing how powerful they are. Before we go into the next week of action take a look back at Friday night.

Freshman LaSean Nichols-Porter has a bright future in the Bronco backfield.

FRANKLIN 38 CHARLES CITY 26

The Panthers had a terrible 2 minutes that plagued them for the rest of the game. Charles City gave up 18 points in the final 1:51 seconds of the 1st quarter that they couldn’t recover from. LaSean Nichols-Porter contributed 3 touchdowns, Drelyn Ford 2, and Resean Rawlings added 1 to help the Broncos capture victory for the first time this season. Franklin will now face the Park View Dragons and Charles City will host AnaJai Lewis and the Drifters of Colonial Beach.

SUSSEX CENTRAL 18 COLONIAL BEACH 12 OT

The defensive driven Sussex Central Tigers were down 12-6 when Trevon Hatch tied the game up in the 3rd quarter at the 5:06 mark at 12 all. Both teams had 2 key drives afterwards each that were stopped by interceptions. Colonial Beach’s offense faced a 4th down and couldn’t convert on the pass attempt, as the defender was there to make the hit. The Tigers would win it on their very first play of their overtime possession with Hatch getting in from 10 yards out.

COLONIAL HEIGHTS 28 SOUTHAMPTON 26

Maurice Sykes Jr. rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown as the Colonials moved to 3-0 for the first time since 2005. Southampton trailed 22-0 before scoring before the half. After Sykes made it 28-6 many thought the rout was on but they would be mistaken. The Indians rushing attack closed the gap but failed conversions eventually spoiled what could have been a memorable comeback.

LIBERTY CHRISTIAN 52 BRUNSWICK 16

The battle of the Bulldogs would not be much of such as Liberty Christian who was coming off being dominated the week before in West Virginia came looking for a win. Brunswick had been close but no cigar and this one wasn’t in doubt. Look for Brunswick (0-3) to get everything turned around in a big way with a trip to Windsor (0-3).
