Magna Vista quarterback Shoalin McGuire
MVHS had no trouble with Martinsville on Friday, winning 45-6, and quarterback Shoalin McGuire made it look easy, recording 258 passing yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for another.
The win moved Magna Vista to 6-0 on the campaign.
Buckingham's Leon Ragland and Tariq Gough
They both came up big in Buckingham's 33-28 win over Central Lunenburg. Ragland finished with 145 yards rushing on 15 carries, and Tariq Gough had 147 yards on 24 touches.
Pulaski team
It wasn't a Southside team getting the win as Pulaski beat Franklin County, but when you overcome what PHS did in its 23-14 victory, you've gotta respect it. The Cougars, on a slick field and treacherous night, fumbled the ball in a key situation, had a bunch of penalties, screwed up and early punt that led to a FCHS touchdown and a missed field go soon after to get on the board. Stephen James' team managed to rally to take a 20-7 lead en route to the victory, despite only 250 yards of offense.
