Well, Well. Week 10. What caught my eye this week?

Yes, happy for Charles city winning hats off for the players and coaches with just 12 players, good win for Hopewell with so much adversity this year with the deaf of a team mate, injuries to 3 top player. surprising but not shocking. Hanover beating Freeman was shocking the score. And Colonial Heights beating up Petersburg was surprising to me.

Battle of Mechanicsville: Atlee v M'Ville

My sister-in-law and her family live in Mechanicsville just a couple minutes off of I295 and a few minutes off of 360 - the intersection where Mechanicsville shows up on a map of VA. My nieces all attended Atlee. Atlee is no more than 10 minutes from her house. It seems like Mechanicsville HS would be closer but actually they are both about the same distance from her house just in different directions.

What was the final score from last night's game?
Atlee won 34-0. They set a Richmond area record with 7 interception in the game, according to the Richmond Times Dispatch

Region B Ratings 11/1

Amelia forfeited next weeks matchup vs Buckingham. I'm wondering if this will put BC ahead of Riverheads with Amelia being a 5 win team.
Amelia is a 4 win team now. That comes from Amelia losing one of their wins from Central Woodstock gaining their forfeits back after appeal.

Without adding in Rider Points for next week for @AnyGivenFriday1969 @LMcCray Buckingham will now get +26 for Amelia forfeit.

Riverheads currently is at 245, Buckingham with those 26 would go to 244. So it all comes down to riders.

4D Playoff Standings-Week 9

Interesting. Well, then it's really just about seeding next week, the top 8 should be locked in unless Orange County is given an enormous upset from Charlottesville. I wonder if a win over Rustburg can give Glass the 6 seed and avoid first-round matchups against GW or JF, both of whom handled Glass in the regular season. Glass might want to try their luck with Sherando or Handley in round one.
I did a quick talley. Did not include all bonus points.
Orange 24.44
Glass 24.1
Mecklenburg 24
James Wood 23.66

This is just off of their individual games added to last week's ratings. Other teams were not added in but you can see how close it is.

Illegal batting

Haven's seen this infraction called in ages but I'm not sure the infraction was administered correctly tonight. Here's what happened: Team A faces 4th and 26 from its 30. Team B blocks the punt and the ball rolls towards B'e sideline. As it bounces towards the 20 yard line a B player dives and bats it towards the goal line. Flag comes out. After a discussion, the officiating crew administered a 15-yard penalty from the previous spot resulting in a 4th and 11 at A's 45. Later, someone told me the infraction was a 10-yard penalty that is supposed to be enforced from the spot of the foul. Which scenario is correct? thanks.

Rivalry games are crazy.

Glass gets 20 W 16 for beating Heritage. That's probably enough to clinch a spot.

Hayfield

Let's see. @BoKnowsSports keep me straight on this first chain of moves. The James River QB transferred to Highland Springs. The Highland Springs backup qb from last year went to Varina, Varina's qb went to Huguenot, Huguenots QB went to LC Bird (so did Manchester RB).

Let's see Huguenot gotta dump load of new players in the past two years. Same type of AAU (Hurricanes) deal as Hayfield. Bird picked up several new players and as previously mentioned so did Springs. Am I getting warm
Huguenot might be the next to get caught. They were downtrodden for years and years, now magically overnight they're a state power. Pretty soon there will probably be a transfer portal in high school smh

Glass with the big win against Heritage!
Rivalry games are crazy.
Monticello snuck in a 34-31 victory over Orange County as well. Points should be very interesting. I'd imagine Amherst is probably out of the running but I'll wait to see the points. Orange County will almost certainly win next week (0-9 Charlottesville), wondering if Glass can still make it with a loss to Rustburg or if they are playing for the playoffs. Rustburg is no slouch but they're also comfortably in the 3C playoffs, Glass having to win to keep their season alive might be a powerful motivator for the Hilltoppers.

STICK A FORK IN THEM

This is corny honestly. The school district said in August that Hayfield was cleared and now after the whole season goes by now they’re ineligible?

The kids are getting the short end of the stick. Just suspend DO rest of the year but don’t take what these kids worked for away from them.
I agree that the kids are getting short changed. But their parents knew that they were breaking the rules and just went along with it. From hearing from people closer to the situation, it seems like the school system said there wasn't any wrongdoing, because they were trying to cover their own tracks. But no way that many students moved into the Hayfield school zone and are paying tuition. Why not go to an average program and build them up into a contender, instead of recruiting. Ultimately, Overton not only screwed over Hayfield, but he did the same to Freedom as well.

Scores From Around The State (November 1st)

I
Rough night… Bath is absolutely for real. Some surprising scores. I cannot believe that GW fell, does Bath replace them as the favorite? It looks like Narrows was only only to score two TDs a half against Craig. Are they in trouble next week? I think that one can get out of hand quickly.
I'll admit Bath is surprising me. Next week will be crucial for them. They were 9-0 at this point last year too, then Narrows beat them and they followed that up with a first round loss to Galax. Bath has a very good chance to be the #1 seed, however personally I still would put my money on GW or Grayson in the playoffs. GW usually makes adjustments if they face a team twice in one season, like last year with Grundy. But with that said, i honestly didn't see anyone beating GW in the Region in the regular season or playoffs, but that's why they play the games.

They obviously didn't do it the correct way. Lol. You don't just have that many kids transfer in one off-season. Rec teams may not have zones and he could go and recruit at the youth level, but high school does and if they were doing it illegally, then it doesn't matter.
