Salem at GW

Yeah, he is definitely the biggest “what if”. Man, the dude would’ve been fun to watch on Sundays.
Just my opinion but, Marcus Parker without injury is at least in the biggest "what if" discussion but, as time rolls on only old timers are likely to remember. Sadly, Marcus' "what if" was beyond his control while Ramsey's was self inflicted.

King George @ Dinwiddie

The only question mark I have for KG is the QB play. I have also been on record saying that on here last year and they torched everyone in B. Different year, different QB. I think if Koch gets time and don’t turn it over like the EV game, King George will give Dinwiddie all they want and possibly win. Last week I gave a bunch of conjecture. Powhatan was a huge disappointment , King George is legit. I’ve seen all 4 Region B teams play, really not a big difference in 1 through 4.
Will you be there Friday?

Thoughts on Region A

Rapp is the team to beat in Region A.
I would have to agree right now, I just don't think Essex has enough for them this year and maybe the next 2 years. They have to get past Middlesex 1st which I think will give them a run for their money. It's odd to me that they were the clear favorites and returned a lot of key pieces and have seemed to allow Rappahannock to pass them. I know most are looking at the record but the eye test tells me they aren't as good as 8-1 and have a lot of holes on offense and defense. They have a bunch of coaches and the kids just don't seem as tough. Mentally or physically...can Essex and company bring their best game the next few weeks and make it back to state or are we crowning a new Region A champ. As for Region B I hang my hat on Altavista as that being my ladies alma mater. Buckle up boys its going to get rough here soon

King George @ Dinwiddie

Man we had a linebacker playing CB & our MLB was playing WR 😂😂😂 it got bad. @BoKnowsSports Maury gonna score 40 on everyone unless they choose not to. Matoaca was rivalry game with extremely mobile QB once Dinwiddie finally settled in Matoaca only had one progressive drive the second half. I don’t think KG is Maury and Matoaca. We all get on Matoaca for being soft but if they had a killer instinct they’d be one of the scariest teams in the state. I think it maybe close for a half something like 28-14 but that killer instinct for Dinwiddie will kick in after that. I may be wrong but the dam usually breaks in the 3rd quarter that’s where Dinwiddie will separate themselves. That canon and horse can be intimidating if it’s your first time in that environment

King George @ Dinwiddie

I think people forget at seasons end last year Dinwiddie was decimated at the skill position. Not taking anything away from KG but it really took the wheels falling off for King George to start pulling away in the 2nd half. I think Dinwiddie will be ok defensively this week because the King George QB isn't a dynamic runner like Bryce Yates at Matoaca.

Bird vs Matoaca

To your question, Bird struggles against athletic defenses (Dale / Huguenot / Manchester). Birds front 7 is going to be the best Matoaca has seen since Dale.

Bird can't get behind late, the passing game is not there. If they turn this into a punch fest they can win this game.

Matoaca must show they can drive the ball. Living by the big play catches up to you.

If MHS keeps the extra antics down, they win 28 to 14

Varina vs Huguenot

Not to mention, Varina’s been playing some of their best football in the past month
They have but we can say the same about Huguenot.

@mbonape1 Huguenot lost by a missed PAT last year, I don’t know where these blowout scores are coming from. I believe Varina was way more talented last year and Huguenot was very young. Huguenot lost to Cosby and got blown out by Manchester. They’ve
decimated all the good teams they played..

Varina vs Huguenot

Their games against Powhatan & Monacan make me think they lose this game. Both of those teams are spread teams who run the ball & in both those games they trailed against inferior talent. Now you goto Varina and play against a team with the same scheme but SIGNIFICANTLY better talent who has played a stronger schedule than you, I think in the 4th quarter that will come into play. It means something when a team has been in a war a knows how to squeeze out a win even when they play bad. I said 24-22 Varina this weekend I’m starting to lean 28-16 Varina. I’ve just got to see it to believe it from Huguenot.
I remember last year the sentiment was the same, Varina will easily beat Huguenot and that was not the case… also, same story about the weak schedule from the same posters. This Huguenot team is substantially better than their squad last year. Maybe Varina’s is too, we shall see. I would be stunned if Huguenot only scored 16 points though. The scores of X team against Y team don’t always act as much of a predictor. I could spiral out of control on that topic and show you many games that don’t add up this season when comparing wins against neutral opponents and margin of victories. I’ll admit, it is the only thing we have to go off of though. I think Huguenot’s offense is the most diverse that I have seen this year. Now maybe, Varina’s pass rush is so good they have no time but Varina will not be able to just pin their ears back. Huguenot has two very good tailbacks. I’d say for me, the one thing I wonder about Huguenot is can they consistently stop Varina. I know their defensive numbers have been great but Varina will definitely be the best team they faced all year so far.

Hayfield

I have no proof, but early in this debacle I recall there was an article or post that Reid knows the principal well from another job or school system.
The superintendent came from Washington state while the Hayfield principal came from Richmond. It seems unlikely they would have a prior personal or professional connection.

I doubt that she will end up leaving over this matter, though not impossible depending on what eventually turns up.

The Schoolboard would sacrifice the Superintendent before they take the fall. The Schoolboard is unbelievably shielded by some invisible law shield that makes them immune from facing consequences of "morally objective decisions". However, they can and I have seen it happen, sell out the Super to get the heat off of the Board and quiet the masses. By the next election, everyone just remembers they helped remove the "problem". As with MOST situations, the TOP SPOT is always the target. Although it does sound like Reid is complicit here. It's NOT looking good at all. I can't help but wonder if there was some sort of professional relationship that existed between Reid and the Hayside Principal and AD prior to their hiring....that would make for an interesting "oh by the way" storyline....
Nothing will happen. The school district is radicalized. And this is yet another byproduct of what happens when certain types of people are voted in.

My thought process has been going here for a while. I have a class for all-star teams and let them duke it out for a championship. They have a different set of rules and guidelines and schools can appeal to play in that class if they so choose. Then you have a 4-class system with the other schools. Pretty simple in theory.
I proposed this the other day. Have an Open Division. Teams can play whoever they want and aren't assigned a district and therefore do not have a district schedule. School size doesn't matter (so if a 300 student school wants to be in an Open Division, then they run the risk of playing against a 3000 student school). I would say that a minimum of 16 teams are needed to create the division. Have a selection committee choose the Top 8 and have three rounds of playoffs. Then, they can decide their little state champion so they can feel good about being different from the other schools.
