Essex @ King & Queen…Is a forfeit by K&Q this Friday…

Essex has a hard time finding teams that will schedule a regular season game. Realistically Essex needs to drop Franklin, KQ and Charles City and schedule tougher competition. It hurt when king William dropped Essex. Rappahannock and Northumberland have done a decent job scheduling games with other teams not in the area.

Where do you think teams like Smithfield and Hampton rank in Class 4? I think both have the talent to beat a lot of the top class 4 teams out west.

GW/Staunton River moved to Thursday 7pm (NFM)

Also, the city of Danville lost an absolute legend in Bryan “Keeta” Covington over the past weekend. He led GW to its last state championship in 1982 and was a 5 star recruit before all of the recruiting services made that a thing. Played at Maryland and led the ACC interceptions and punt return yards. LEGEND! One of the better people you’d ever meet too. We ask yall to keep Coach Bam and the Covington family in your prayers. Will be nice to see the Eagles win big in his honor.

Week 4 thoughts!

Essex and Altavista were back to dominating teams as both teams had blow out wins following their bye weeks. Looks like they are headed on a collision course to meet in the State Semi finals as a rematch of last years State 1a semifinals.

Rye Cove has clearly entered the realm in which folks are gonna have to mention them as a State Finals contender. They should make easy work of their opponent this week.

Galax moves to 0-4 and I think its time to start hitting the panic button. They have GW coming to town and 0-5 is just a formality at this point.

GW had a big bounce back Win this week over Carroll County who came into the game riding a 3-0 record. Looking at their schedule they can potentially win out and be in the mix for the top seed for the region.

Northumberland came in with a 3-0 record vs 2a Bruton. They believed they could win as they beat Bruton last year but Bruton showed Northumberland that they are not what were last year as they jumped out to a 34-0 lead. Maybe this was just one bad game from the Indians and they will bounce back vs Prince Edwards.

Rappahannock also faced a 3-0 team in 2A Nelson County but the results were a little different than the Northumberland game. Rappahannock managed to pulloff the win 36-20 to move to 4-0 with the Chargers coming to town.

Middlesex pulled off the upset of Lancaster which makes me wonder was the winning season from the Devils a fluke. They have a big test this week when facing the Rapp Raiders, can they pull off the upset 2wks in a row?

Sneaking into the convo is Eastside who has quietly compiled a 4-0 and is flying under the radar of most teams. Can they be a player when it comes to a State title???

Wilson/Riverheads Game Highlights Shenandoah's First Big Weekend

I like Riverheads to prevail but Wilson has the ability to give them a run for their money. Their defense has been solid for the most part this season and the Podgorski to Baucom combination adds an element that must be defended in their run-first attack. I haven't seen Riverheads this season yet but they have a long history so it's hard to go against them unless the eye test dictates otherwise.

Agree with Draft, Staunton has athletes but has struggled this season.

Gap is the majority pick.

I like Madison against Fort Defiance. The Indians have the big win over the Gladiators but Madison has looked good in all three games. Their only loss was against Buckingham and they only trailed by a point at halftime. The Indians may prevail, but they will have to play great defense and control the clock/tempo when they are on offense.
