I knew the Phoebus defense was very sound. However, after spending the last hour and a half watching most of the game I quickly realized just how well coached and disciplined the Phantoms are. #0 gets behind the o line and waits patiently for a hole to pop into. The quarterback is very poised and makes great decisions. I especially enjoyed watching #52. He has a great motor and lays the wood on both sides of the ball.So now this is being said? lol EVERYBODY picked Highland Springs before the game and a lot by multiple TDs. Springs was just in the state title and lost by a TD without their best player. Highland Springs is still the best program in the 804 until proven otherwise and I don’t want to hear that they’re not because they lost to Phoebus.
I have zero doubt that Highland Springs is a very good football team and will win games and be a contender in D6 this year. Phoebus defense is just that good.
Because of the Phoebus stifling defense it's really hard to tell how good the Highland Springs offense is. I will say the transfer QB from James River is not an upgrade from the backup that transferred to Varina. I thought the Springers defense looked good at times, but Phoebus had them well scouted.
In a nutshell on this night Phoebus had more talent, executed the game plan to perfection and did not beat themselves. It's going to take a special team to beat the Phantoms.
