    Region C Playoffs

At one point, the Northwestern District was going to have a "Pod A" and "Pod B" structure, but with the 3 teams no longer playing, is that structure out? Assuming so, what is the plan? Will Region C still have Dulles #1-#2 play the Northwestern #2-#1 but simply use district records w/...

    Tuscarora vs Lake Taylor stats

It's all good @VAtuffTurf! Off to Liberty. Good luck to both teams. All this talk will be settled on the field today, and what's most important is these kids stay healthy and enjoy the experience. Win or lose, this is an experience they will remember for a lifetime.

    Tuscarora vs Lake Taylor stats

That 97 yard pass was vs Liberty, but nonetheless I was thinking the same thing. In this case, take away Hayes' 63 yard catch and Sherando throws for under 100 yards. Regardless, @VAtuffTurf I can tell by your past posts you're not a big fan of Tuscarora, but I think it's hard to deny that a...

    Tuscarora vs Lake Taylor stats

Given Tusky's prolific offense and LT's PPG on D, I feel Tusky scoring 40 is not out of the question, therefore, to me this game comes down to exactly your point above... It's the unstoppable force of LT offense vs the unmovable object of Tusky D. Whichever gives determines the game.

State Championship: Tuscarora vs Lake Taylor

I saw several posts on here giving Tusky proper credit throughout the season and some suggesting Broad Run and Tusky might be the 2 best teams in class 4. That said, 2 reasons perhaps they didn't get more credit: 1) BR beat Tusky in week 1, so until Tusky beat BR in the regional final, most...

State Championship: Tuscarora vs Lake Taylor

Can't speak for LT, but I don't think you can say Tusky "seems to prefer a shootout". The defense gave up 12 pts/game this season, and even that includes about 8 qtrs of football with the 2nd/3rd string during blowouts.

Congratulations To Tuscarora; Great Job, Salem

Back from Salem and what a great experience. That was my first time in Salem Stadium and it's an amazing venue for high school football. Perfect weather and friendly Salem fans made for a great day. The Tusky tailgate got set up around 11:30 and there were already Salem faithful tailgating...

Class 4 State Semi- Final: Tuscarora Huskies at Salem Spartans

Good luck to both Tusky and Salem today! Very excited for what should be an incredible game in a great stadium and great atmosphere for HS football!

Class 4 State Semi- Final: Tuscarora Huskies at Salem Spartans

My quick take: Advantage Salem: Home field/no travel Strength, grit, unity of OL Depth/Versatility of RBs "Been here before" (9 state championships to Tusky's 0) Advantage Tuscarora Receivers Versatile, explosive offense that is difficult to prepare for Speed, pursuit of D Underdog mentality...

Class 4 State Semi- Final: Tuscarora Huskies at Salem Spartans

BR QB is a difference maker for sure. Would him being 100% made a difference in that game's final outcome? I tend to say no. Tusky dominated all aspects of the game. Their 3 man DL and DB sets were designed to stop the QB dink and dunk game (which beat Tusky in week 1 and everyone else all...

Class 4 State Semi- Final: Tuscarora Huskies at Salem Spartans

Yes I was just suggesting a better transitive comparison for Tusky/BR outcome is Tusky/BR/LV and it does support the Tusky/BR outcome. But you're right, the Tusky/Woodgrove/Musselman results shows you can't trust these transitive comparisons. I think we agree such comparisons don't work.

Class 4 State Semi- Final: Tuscarora Huskies at Salem Spartans

I agree no one expected a 3 score win and agree this whole line of reasoning is generally silly. However, when you said this line of reasoning doesn't support the Tusky/BR result, I just thought it was ironic (or coincidental) that recent results actually did support a multi-score win...i.e...

Class 4 State Semi- Final: Tuscarora Huskies at Salem Spartans

I agree the transitive property can be misleading bc every match up is different (as evidenced by your Tusky/Woodgrove/Musselman ex.). That said, not sure I understand why you specifically state this method would not predict a Tusky win over BR. If you look at Tusky's late season dominant wins...

Will Tuscarora bring a crowd to Salem Saturday?

Dont knock the 3-3 stack defense, if Tusky can execute it without the penalties and fumbles, then unlike Ampipe High, they can win the big game!

Will Tuscarora bring a crowd to Salem Saturday?

I would not expect a huge crowd either. While there will be a very passionate set of parents, family and some students, a new school like Tuscarora lacks an alumni and community following. Leesburg and Loudoun County in general are a very transient community, so those with a longstanding...

Class 4 State Semi- Final: Tuscarora Huskies at Salem Spartans

I agree with this 100%. Tusky defense has shutdown the run all season. In playoffs so far I think Sherando, Liberty, BR combined had something like 150 yards rushing, but you're right, Salem is the toughest run team they will face so far. Will be a battle for sure.

Class 4 State Semi- Final: Tuscarora Huskies at Salem Spartans

I haven't followed class 4 as close as 5 until this year, but I have to think BR and Tusky are a notch above those NOVA teams that "haven't fared well." Think about this... if BR/Tusky hadn't moved down this year, it's very possible the 4C champ would be Liberty or Sherando, who Tusky dominated...

Region C #1 NW Liberty vs. #2 Dulles Tuscarora

Tusky looked very good last night. Liberty is a solid team all around but seemed outmatched by a faster team. Liberty hung in their in the first half, but frankly a 97-yard TD by Lawson that should have been picked but was misjudged by the Tusky DB made it 17-16. Tusky then has a TD called...
