    When Rustburg was king.

Close on Iverson, but I think the score of that game was 27-0. He threw for one, ran of one, pick 6 for one and punt return.

Glass graduated something like 26 seniors off of last years team, and has started a total of nine 9th and 10th graders at one point or another this season. All of that plus a two week quarantine in the middle of the season (fewer practices) and a lot of injuries haven't helped. Friday night...

    Northside Suspends Season

Sir, please present any science that suggests that children playing games outside with restrictions increases community transmission of the virus.

    Northside Suspends Season

I'd say shutting down for 14 days is more than sufficiently careful.

    Northside Suspends Season

I am sorry for the disruption and of course wish them all the best. Is there any reason to believe that these folks would not have contracted covid if there were no sports? The rate of incidence among those participating seems far lower than the general population.

News VHSL Releases Sports & Activities Plan for 2020-21 + Media Press Conference

I understand your concerns, but I don't think we should talk ourselves into cancellation. Other states are competing safely (without any documented incidence of sports contributing materially to community spread) without a testing regime that you have alluded to.

Promising article, fingers crossed for February!!!!

Given the media coverage and public attention on these matters, and given the number of games that have been played...do you not think it is notable that there are no accounts of significant community spread attributable to high school football in the media narrative? It seems like it is OK to...

Promising article, fingers crossed for February!!!!

Correct. We can't base risk mitigation efforts on the ridiculous and unattainable notion that we can prevent people from contracting the virus. The issue is whether high school football materially increases the overall spread of the virus to at-risk individuals.

    Reading between the lines...

You are correct that this is not how these decisions work and clearly the decisions are made by different entities. These facts do not preclude our decision-makers from considering the other activities (and related transmission opportunities) that are being allowed when weighing decisions that...

    Reading between the lines...

How can we justify letting the colleges play (and they will) and not letting kids play? In Virginia there is only 1 hospitalization to-date related to the virus under the age of 20.

    Reading between the lines...

VHSL leadership has been very supportive of the Governor's approach, which is appropriate and frankly their only choice. However, school children in Virginia deserve a more flexible approach to controlling risk. Have to find a way to protect the vulnerable without sacrificing educational and...

    Reading between the lines...

There is a long time between now and September. Have to wonder if at some point if folks will ever demand a different approach, with the virus essentially non-existent in a significant potion of the state.

What an all-time great VHSL rivalry! Daddy Bo had Eddie Martin's number.

Because LCA draws students from outside of the city as well.

    2020

Lots of big shoes to fill at Glass, but the pipeline is much better than the 6-4 JV record might suggest to some observers. Just need to tailor the scheme to the strengths of the younger players coming up, and I am sure Woody and his staff will do a great job with that - his track record is...

    EC Glass’s Holden Ayers

I think we are pretty much saying the same thing different ways. I-AA/FCS offers from the major players at that level tend to be "full-rides" - I am just saying it used to be the case (and I think it still is) that I-A/FBS didn't have the flexibility to offer anything other than a full-ride...
