2 new Henrico Co. High Schools

Hopefully they will be built big enough to handle future influx of kids (which is not usually what Henrico County does)

Now if we can get Chesterfield County to handle the Bird/Dale area thing
that would be great.

Good news indeed.

If I remember right Varina HS, Henrico HS and JR Tucker HS all opened around the same time.

Didn't VHS have a rather extensive make over a few years ago? I've not been back in decades. :)

HSHS was old when I was living in Varina...Tricky Dicky was POTUS. :D

I do remember there being a problem with JR Tucker's gym roof in the late 60's or early 70's. VHS, JRTHS and HHS all had their gyms closed for a short while for inspections.

yes experimental schools w/o a main building but modular buildings that made the kids go outdoors to change classes. The Tucker gym roof actually collapsed

Varina HS did have an extensive make over a few years back and Henrico just recently went through an extensive remodel. From what I understand, isn't Tucker going to get the same type remodel that Henrico did? It was a big article in today's Rich. Times Dispatch.
HSHS will get a new school and the old school is intended to become the expanded Henrico Technical Center.

It's not the county's fault that don't build big enough schools for future enrollments. From what I understand about the way a lot of the funding sources work for building new schools they can only get loans and grants for schools of the size of their initial projected enrollment. So it's super expensive for a county to build planning for growth (yes, I know this is stupid and I don't know all the in's and out's of it, but my wife was asst. superintendent when her system built a new school and remember this being an issue.).
