Who is going to be good in 2A/1A in the Lynchburg area this year?

Altavista - Loses a lot of talent but their young kids got experience in 2nd half of many games.

Appomattox - Made the playoffs the last couple years and have some All Conference kids returning from the looks of it, but non-district schedule is rough with Buckingham, Rustburg, Heritage, and Amherst.

Chatham - Squeaked into the playoffs, have been middle of the road last couple years, do they jump up.

Dan River - Lose a stud in Edmunds, but they have a lot of good athletes coming back a few All Conference, big opening game with Magna Vista.

Gretna - Was last year an aberration, or the close to the new normal. Some good looking players coming back, can they put it together? Play Brookville and Heritage early in the season.

Nelson - Second year of the Single Wing, will they make a jump in competitiveness like WC did last year?

William Campbell - Huge improvements last year from what I saw. A couple of key guys coming back.

Who is going to make noise in regular season and playoffs?

This is the most unpredictable season in Dogwood history. I would be scared to predict how anyone will do. I say just "make the playoffs and go on a run" to state championship game.

i.e. see Wm Campbell baseball. 6-12 regular season, then state champions.

Altavista: Dynastic program and still the one to beat.

Appomattox: Talented. Last year's game against an evenly matched Lee-Staunton showed they can win when the chips are down.

Dan River: Probably will slip a bit, maybe a lot. We won't know for sure until October.

William Campbell: Last year's Brunswick game still doesn't make sense, but maybe they're actually pretty good.

Gretna: They can't be THAT bad now, can they?

Chatham: Call me a hater. I'm just not very impressed.

Nelson: There's a reason other schools are eager to schedule them.
