Has any Region settled on a plan for playoff seeding yet? I know the Power Point System has been eliminated but I haven't seen any update on what it's being replaced yet from any Region. Personally I would like to see the East vs West format comeback with the Final 4 being Cross bracketed. What type of system would you like to see?

Region 1A is planning to still use VHSL's ranking system for seeding. It is being taught to them for seeding purposed.

Each Region is allowed to determine how they see at the regional level.

With that being said, what determines who host the State Semifinal games?

There has been several discussions. From winning percentage to power points. That's still a work in progress. At the state semi-final level, VHSL is responsible for that and I believe they will have someone calculate those points. There has been some talk about a neutral location as well but nothing solid as of today.

I've heard that rotating them between the regions is under consideration.

For example, a two-year rotation could be: A Champion at B Champion and C Champion at D Champion with the reversal happening the following year of B Champion at A Champion and D Champion at C Champion.

You never know, the VHSL may try to change things up (this would constitute leadership though so I'm not holding my breath).

They could also try:

Year 1: A at B, C at D
Year 2: B at A, D at C
Year 3: A at C, B at D
Year 4: C at A, D at B
Year 5: A at D, B at C
Year 6: D at A, C at B

I would like to see them have a plan and try not to artificially manipulate the brackets deep in to the season like they have in recent seasons which takes away the integrity of the bracketing. All because a couple of people have an opinion as to what they think the best matchup is so the leadership caves to those demands. They did this last two years with Class 6 in 2023 and Class 4 in 2024.

The rotational aspect of things would be a welcome addition IMO. They should also rotate Championship Sites because having the 1A/2A at Salem every year is getting a little stale

Class 1 isn't rotating. They are keeping it A vs. B and C vs. D. Travel costs and distance, especially on a weekday for some sports. Example- Imagine Northampton (A) traveling to Eastside High School (D) for a state semifinal in volleyball on a Tuesday night. That's an 8-hour trip one way.
