I will be the first to admit that my knowledge of 2A soccer is somewhat limited. I'm working to get better. (3A is a pipedream) So please feel free to correct me as needed. But after scouring for scores and results here is what I came up with.

1. George Mason: Was there any doubt?
2. Giles: VHSL has them as 4 right now, but that is dubious at best considering the two teams above them. That said there is a big gap between one and two in every facet of the game. Wins matter though, and they have some.
3. Clarke County: With my limited knowledge, I'll buy in on this. But I think that Mason matchup tonight will tell the tale.
4. Dan River: Really need more info. They may need to be at 2! Correct me by all means.
5. Martinsville/ James River: Just my two cents worth. Need more info on Martinsville before I can make a wide proclamation.

I can safely say that we (Ridgeview) are not in this discussion. I think the only game we've won all season (boys and girls) is the debut game against Grundy. Although, we did only lose to Honaker 1-0.

Baseball and softball are in the same boat. Softball has picked up a few wins here and there, but baseball's only wins have come against Grundy.

Clarke lost to Mason 2-0 Friday (I believe) this was a good game by two tough 2A schools. Keep an eye on this matchup down the road and many other quality 2A matched this week.

I have yet to see anything to make me believe that Prince Edward, or Stuarts Draft are better than Giles/Dan River...I'm hesitant to put Martinsville in the equation. I feel like this is a bit eastern biased. I won't argue with the top spot, but only one other east team will make it through...and I bet they won't be in the final.

I enjoy East-West showdowns as well. I don't know Dan River's roster, but I'm willing to bet this is the first real dominant season these kids have faced. They were bound to give up a game. True to a much weaker opponent, but it happens. I do agree though, that Ad's a shamefully not posting on the district sites...which I thought VHSL made a requirement. Try looking up some FAR West schools...good luck. Short of Graham and some others when the mood strikes, scores don't come up! HAHA

Martinsville took out Halifax last night. Moving them in position to win the Conference over Giles/James River if they win out. Still a few tough matches for them, but it is in their hands.
James River played last night (PM I think) should have won easily, but no score posted.

Graham beat Richlands 6-2 last night as well. A big turn around from the first time out. Only three points behind them in conference. Can't find results to even say if those are the leaders.

James River/PM game rescheduled, heavy rains made the field conditions to bad to play, game changed to 17th? I think they play back to back nights at PM on Monday and at JR on tuesday, still have LB and Bath on back to back nights next week.

Play offs are near! What do we think as far as those making it out of conference.
Here are my thoughts on the West: (I will do more research and add East later)
37: Dan River and Randolph-Henry
38: Giles and Martinsville
39: Tougher here...Graham/Richlands (Virginia High may be in the mix)
40:Then I'll go Lebanon and Gate City...mainly because I know they both have a history of being decent and can tell you NOTHING about this season.

I would go with Battle over Gate City. Battle has destroyed Ridgeview twice 8-0 and 6-0. Not sure what Lebanon has. Gate City just beat us yesterday 3-0.

I try not to put too much stock into one match scores...especially score lines like that. But I will go with that assessment simply because there is next to no information on either squad available. If the far West wants to be taken seriously by outsiders when it comes to athletics, it may be time to get with the rest of the state.
