Number of Championships: Six (One per classification both boys and girls)

Region Tournament

Dates: NFHS Week 33 - Must be completed by Region Deadline as published on the VHSL Calendar. For 2017-18
the Region Start Date is Friday, February 16 and the Region Deadline is Tuesday, February 27

Format: Eight-team, single-elimination tournament unless the Region has determined another format. Seeding
and pairings determined by the Region.

Sites: As determined by each Region.

Who Advances: Region Champion and Region Runner-up advance to state tournament play.

State Tournament

Dates: NFHS Week 33 through 35 - Tournament will start on Friday and run through Saturday. For 2017-18,
Quarterfinals are scheduled for Friday, March 2 or Saturday, March 3. State Semifinals are scheduled for Monday,
March 5 and Tuesday, March 6. State Finals are scheduled as follows: Class 5 & 6 – Thursday, March 8; Class 1 & 2
– Friday, March 9; Class 3 & 4, Saturday, March 10.

Quarterfinals/Semifinals Format: Eight-team, single-elimination tournament per classification pairing: Higher
seed hosts in high seed area. If two # 1 seeds are matched together in the semifinals the top of the
bracket will host. The host school determines Friday or Saturday for Quarterfinals and Monday or
Tuesday for Semifinals if the two schools cannot agree. The default time is 7 PM for a single game and
5:30 and 7:30 for doubleheaders

Quarterfinal pairings- Region D champion vs. Region C runner-up, Region D runner up vs. Region C
Champion. Region B Champion vs. Region A Runner up, Region B runner up vs. Region A Champion

Semifinal Pairings- Region D vs. Region C and Region B vs Region A

Semifinal winners advance to the State Finals at VCU.

Sites: Verizon Wireless Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center, Richmond

Awards: Team trophy and individual medals to State Champion and Runner-up teams.

Not really. I was wanting to know where the 2A Region C tournament was being held.

Not sure how true it is but I heard it’s gonna be at the Dedmon Center at RU but not sure how true it is

Ant I was told the first 2 rounds of region will be at the higher seeds home court and that the semis and finals will be at a neutral site. Don't know how true that is but it came from a AD.

How will they determine seeding in Region C ... That maybe the most important thing.

By point system. Right now Radford is 1, Martinsville is 2 and DR is 3. 2&3 are close and it could flip flop by season end.

Wow.. thanks for the information. Seems that 2 or 3 won't matter that much. Is Radford out of reach?

No catching Radford. Also all 13 teams are in the regionals. 16 team bracket, seeds 1,2,&3 get byes in the first round.

Anyone know how things stand right now? or a good guess? since the regular season is getting close to the end I'm guessing most teams are pretty much where they will finish.
