Fairly decent crowd assembling on the home side, still plenty of seating on the visitor side.

1st & 10 for the 20, our first look at the North offense today

1st & 10 for the 20, our first look at the North offense today

Keyonte Thompson gets the first touch of the day on offense with a 2 yard run but Monacan's Martiesse Phipps keeps him from getting anymore than that. Thompson follows that up with another run for 3 yards.

3 straight plays, 3 straight Thompson runs and now the North is facing 4th & 2

South defense with a big stop as Xavier Butts and company give the South the ball at the North 29

Thomas Dale's Elijah Burns punches it in for the first touchdown of the day with 3 minutes to go in the first quarter on the first snap. Just like that the South has a 10-0 lead on the North.

Down 10-0 the North will need a better showing on offense than their first where they went 4 & out on a drive that lasted less than two minutes.

North is again facing a 4th down play, this one 4th & 3 with Chambers pass to Jalen Hargrove the most productive play thus far for the North on offense and the North punts

Mateo Jackson continues to make plays for the North as he gets to Merlys Manuel for the sack. South punting for the first time today and making matters worse, the South gets hit with false start. North should have good field position after the punt.

As we begin the second quarter, North is facing 3rd & 5 but Brandon Delaney comes up with sack of Chambers and just like that, North is punting ending their most productive possession thus far today.

The punt however is ugly to say the least and the South will take over 1st & 10 from their own 48

False start called against the South. South now facing 3rd & 9

With 6:23 to go in the half, the South will punt as this game has most definitely become a game of defense rather than offense like previous Big River Rivalry games I've attended.
