Abingdon @ Broadway

Broadway is a solid team. I wouldn't say they are great but they are kind of a sneaky good team. They have a good QB (I thought he was the best in the district, but others may say the Waynesboro QB is better), and some receivers that aren't overly athletic or gifted with blazing speed, but find ways to get open and rarely drop balls. Their guys in the trenches are pretty tough, and they have some size to them. 16 seed Waynesboro lost to them by 1 point in OT as they went for 2 and the Broadway defense held. Basically, they are a hardworking, well coached team that found a way to win games. I don't think they will make a long playoff run, but like I said, they are sneaky good, and that QB is tough to contain as he can hurt you with his arm and his legs. Broadway is known for having a great fanbase, and they are actually my favorite fanbase in the Valley District.

I don't know a whole lot about Abingdon, but based off of their scores via maxpreps, I think this game may be a good one and go down to the wire... I'll go with Broadway in a close one, simply due to Abingdon having a long drive and playing in front of Broadway's home crowd. I wish this one was being played on Saturday, so I could check it out. I thought it would be since it's about a 3 hour and 45 minute trip by car, probably 4 hours by bus.

Something that would be cool is if broadway and waynesboro both won their games this week and met up for a rematch next week because that game was probably the best one I saw this year (if not, close). But I realize the chances of that are slim, as both teams will be facing quality opponents.

I'm going with Abingdon, SWVA's only 3A school. I think after the tough 7 point loss to very good Marion last week they will come out ticked off and feeling they have something to prove. They have a good offensive line, good QB, and good back. They will hit you and are well coached. The Gate City game makes me question just how good they are a bit. This team has surprised a few of us in SWVA this year though... good season for them win or lose but GO FALCONS.. make SWVA proud!!

Not to pat myself on the back or anything (actually thats exactly what I'm doing) but I think this is the first time I've been right about something all season haha
