Game Recap Ambassadors defeat Chargers

Norfolk Christian won their 7th straight game heading into the playoffs after defeating Isle of Wight 55-14 on Friday night. The Ambassadors finished the season with eight wins against one defeat and should have locked up a playoff game next week.

The game started out with both teams on pace to score 100 points each. The two teams combined for 28 points in the 1st three minutes of the game.

scored on a 20-yard run after a Norfolk Christian turnover and Colby Williams returned a kickoff 95-yards with 9:20 to go in the 1st quarter for a 14-7 Isle of Wight lead. However, that would be there last points as Norfolk Christian would score the final 47 points.

Quarterback Alvonte Lawton threw deep to A11 for a 65-yard touchdown to tie the game at 14 then completed a short screen pass to Lamareon James who turned down the left sideline fort a 21-yard touchdown to give Norfolk Christian a 21-14 lead after the 1st quarter.

Norfolk Christian put the game away with three touchdowns on their 1st three possessions of the 3rd quarter. James made another incredible run for a 40-yard touchdown and Lawton connected with Gage Elliott for two touchdown passes to extend the Ambassadors lead to 48-14.

Hunter Edwards, in his final game for Isle of Wight, finished with 31 carries for 222 yards rushing. Senior Colton Heard added 87 yards on 12 carries.
