GW and Amherst split last year as GW lost to the Lancers in the regular season 55-45, with GW returning the favor in the first round of the playoffs 43-18.

Keys for GW:
1.The GW rushing attack is lethal. 5 players who can take it to the end zone on any given play. Carl Poole Jr. (4 carries, 48 yards 2TDs), Wesley Graves ( 18 carries, 177 yards, 2 TDs) and Carlos Poole (10 carries, 118 yards, 2TDs) combined for 6 TDs last week. Don’t count out Willie Edmunds Jr who you have to believe gets some added carries soon.
2. GW’s secondary, YES SECONDARY, is darn good this year. They swarm to the football and don’t let the receivers get behind them, which is a very very good sign Picked off LCA 3 times with junior CB Kwamaine Hairston getting 2 interceptions. They’ll have their hands full with Frank Ross and #3 Ola Williams this week. Look for Carlos Poole Jr., who got hurt in the 1st quarter in last September’s game to be GW’s impact player on D along with FS Shawn Watlington Jr.
Keys for Amherst:
1.Get Frank Ross more touches. 8 carries for 55 yards. He has to have at least 25 touches if Amherst wants any chance at being competitive against a deep GW offense that will score fast.
2.Stay focused. Watched the Salem game on YouTube and they had some good moments but a lot of bad. They will have to stay disciplined and limit turnovers and mistakes.
3. Pick GW’s young secondary. Though the GW secondary is much improved, they are young. Amherst has some nice weapons besides Ross. Samari Brogdon and Ola Williams could give the GW secondary a lot of trouble with their speed and experience. Very fast receivers! Williams may be the best receiver GW sees this regular season.
