Amherst Preview

You beat me to it Wikki, I was at the Salem/Brookville/MV scrimmage. Brookville looks much better than I expected. Depending on how you looked at it, they showed the best of the scrimmage or even with Salem. Magna Vista didn't look as good as I expected. The biggest takeaway from the scrimmage became about the actions of one MV player who speared a Salem player. Video of the incident is on the scrimmage write up thread.

Liberty graduated 22 seniors off last years team, and a friend of mine close to the program told me that they are only at 60 percent , they will win some games this year, however the talent is very young, and the O line is completely new.

Amherst is young too according to the WSET preview. Hope they will improve this year. I think having teams like Pulaski and Amherst back to their old self does nothing but elevate the West overall especially SW.

I agree with everything being said about Amherst , hope they return to being a winning program. let's remember one thing, just because a team doesn't win state championships and 8 or 9 games out of the regular schedule, doesn't mean they are not a strong program. I believe the Coach at Amherst is help guide some young men in the right direction in the path of growing up to being quality hard working citizens. Etc.... There are very strong quality programs winning on the practice field every day, I think Coach Lloyd moving to Monticello, was a huge win for them on and off the field. Class act. Obviously , Fisher at Louisa has done great things for that school. The talent level goes up and down at every school, and I think that reflects on wins and losses in a large way. Yes there are better coaches and programs that put winning teams out there every Friday night , but winning with kids isn't all about winning on Froday night. Amherst is a winning in other ways. That being said Amherst will make a strong showing the first game , and will have a lot to be proud of for the rest of the season. they hung close to the State runner -ups. Salem 35-21.
