Earlier today at the 2018, VHSL Combined 1A/2A State Indoor Track and Field Meet held at Roanoke College, Parry McCluer Senior Thrower Joshua Fischer won the Men's Shot Put Championship at the State Meet with a final heave of 53'-5", thus giving the "Fighting Blues" throwers BACK TO BACK STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!
Fischer has been getting consistently stronger, better and throwing farther since the end of last year..
His dedication and commitment to the sport and the weight room along with his relentless, willingness to practice, rain or shine is no doubt the main reasons for his success.. And it shows!!!
Fischer is currently ranked 4th in the entire state(out of a registered 678 throwers),and less than 3" behind the 3rd ranked thrower to include all 1A through 6A Classifications.. I think that's pretty respectable and well worth mentioning... Chances are, if he stays healthy he finishes his senior season at the end of Outdoor as one of the top three Shot-Put throwers in the State... Not to mention the Discus.. Keep working young man, KEEP WORKING, KEEP FIGHTING and KEEP DIGGING!!
CONGRATULATIONS to Josh and to the "Fighting Blues" Coaching Staff for a job well done!! On to the Outdoor season, and as always..... GO BLUES!!!
