Where is the HSHS vs Freedom PW scrimmage & what time?

Manchester vs Ocean Lakes scrimmage again this year. The dolphins likely have the edge this year. If the Lancers hand it to OL this year, wow look out! They lost so many seniors & this could be a better team for the Dolphins than last year!

I wanted to see Hermitage scrimmage. I see only one, that against Fairfax HS in Fairfax.

@HooSprings @springer76 how did our guys do today at RMC?
They did well. I think just about everybody played some. It was kind of hard to tell who was who, as most jersey numbers din't match (normal for scrimmages). My assessment... (I could be wrong) but here goes.
JVs played on the same field as varsity first practicing kick game duties. Kick offs, Punts ,xtra pts and field goals. Then JV's played each other in ckntrolled scrimmages. The centers on both sides had trouble hiking the ball in shot gun formation. A lot sailed over the head. Then they played a simulated brief game. It looked fairly even, but I think HS may have may have made a few more plays.
HS scored 1x, Freedom 0 (in the game session.
Then Varsity took the field.
First series with starters.
Freedom was on offense. They opened with a pass play, HS intercepted the pass and returned it DEEP in freedom territory, but was called back on a penalty
Next play was a run play, Freedom fumbled and HS picked it up and raced 50-60 yds for a td.
Both teams played game style, but like 10 plays each. Starters play, HS offense moved right down the field and scored. (Score HS 2-1) Then, Freedom with some nice plays went down and scored (wr beating our db for wide open td Tied 2-2)
2nd teams played. Both sides moved the ball and scored. Score tied 3-3. 3rd teamers (I think) went they played. I think the coaches were just watching to see what the depth looks like ... some of the jv kids got in on some of that action with the varsity kids
I thought it went well (only 1 week of practice)
Freedom was in the Class 6 State Title game last year and had a terrific season. I think 12-3! They are returning a lot too.
They will be a contender for the title this year! They have a very good team!
HS I do believe will be as good as advertised, but there is a long way to go!
Go Springers!

To say it was a controlled scrimmage would be an understatement. Both JVs ran 20 plays. Then both Varsities ran 20. Then, both JVs ran game situations 20 plays. Next freedom ran five plays vs HSHS ‘s complete first D before fumbling and the Springers took it all the way back for a touchdown. Freedom then run 15 plays before getting into the end zone against Highland Springs second string corners And DLine. HSHS first offense scored quickly through the air after 6 plays. Freedom then scored in about 10 plays vs HS 2nd D. HSHS second o scored on what appeared to be Freedom 2nd D. Both teams scored 3 TDS but HSHS first FULL Offense only ran 6 plays all day. A lot of mixing and matching for both teams. Very hot day!!!!

You nailed it! We must have been typing at the same time!

I would be interested to hear from anyone that might have seen Cosby and Colonial Heights scrimmage today. Mainly, to see if Colonial Heights appears to be responding to their new coach.

I was impressed with Jones’(the kid is built like a tank) poise in the pocket, his accuracy, and touch. The pass down the seem, over the top, just out of the reach of the safety was impressive. Dent has impressive mechanics and accuracy. Once again,an impressive pass down the seem, rolling to his LEFT,showed me a very strong arm to go with his impressive form. Both QBs have mature poise!!

Defensive depth MUST tackle better in the open field. The STARTING D-Line is everything advertised. Those 2 DEs are physical specimens.

I was also impressed with the WR on JV that caught the TD pass. Great size(about 6’2) & speed for an underclassman. I don’t know his grade, but he could really put pressure on Defenses at ANY level. I’d love to see him lined up opposite side of Hodges on the varsity.

I just saw the Thursday forecast. Not Bad for mid August! I'm going to see if my mean ole boss will let me off for a few hours.
