One heck of a game. It was 20-14 in 4th with 4 min left. Glenvar D stopped Appo on 3rd but on 4th and short from around the 50, Appo throws it over the top for a long TD. Gutsy call. Give Appo credit. I think if Glenvar had made that stop, they have a great chance to win the game as they were moving the ball pretty well on the previous drive, and the Appo linemen seemed gassed. That was the Glenvar game plan.. Keep it close and own the 4th. It almost worked.

After the kickoff, Glenvar gets the ball down to the 1 with about 1min left. but turns it over after a great hit near the goal line and Appo runs out the clock. Another key for Appo was they had 2 scoring drives stay alive by the nose of the football on 4th down. Glenvar was just short a couple of times . Those first downs were big for Appo.

Final thought and I can't help myself. All of you on here (and there were many) predicting an Appo blowout were dead wrong. Proud of our Glenvar boys for bringing it tonight.

Sounds like a great game. I said three scores, I was close. I did not make it down, got off work late so went to bburg and Salem game. That was a classic also. It appears I missed one in Glenvar also.

Appo fans may think differently but I say they dodged a bullet tonight. Very close game that turned on a couple of plays in the 4th.

Hard fought game. Glenvar line play was good. It was a gutsy call but it was on 1st & 10 from the 50. Note it wasn't low scoring as appo had 26 but anyone there watching knows it was 29 as the FG in 1st half was good and by the way you were 0 for 2 as Hokies are victorious again for the 14th year in a row.

One other note, glenvar was a good a team but it told me a lot about what they thought as they started game with onside kick and had to do 2 during the game. They saw themselves as the underdogs. Leonard is a tough RB.

You can say that about every team in every game. We left points on the field. Really?? That’s an excuse I’m hearing, give credit where it’s due and leave it at that. I’m sure your coach isn’t telling his team that. Well boys, the score should’ve been 52-14 IF we hadn’t left points on the field. How many points did Glenvar leave on the field?? 39?? That’s means they win 53-52. LoL!!!

Agreed intri! I was one that predicted more points that was scored tonight , but let's be honest Appo left a lot of points on the field tonight , no excuses glenvar played hard but great teams make gutsy calls and make it happen !

What? I'm a big Hokie fan since 1980. I think you have me confused with another post.

Glenvar put up a good contest. Players looked good last night, lots of turnovers on both sides resulted in an exciting game to watch. A pretty clean game as far as flags being thrown mostly miscues, not fouls.

Raiders defense had several key stops that stopped a couple of Glenvar scores.

Bailey, as promised, delivered as usual.

Overall, glad I was in Salem last night. Looks like we got a much better-played game that the one at Scott Stadium.

No. Kickoffs hasn't been a strength for Glenvar this year with any team. Coaches saw an Appo weakness. It almost worked 1st time and it did the 2nd time in the 4th even though you knew it was coming. If Glenvar had scored with 49 seconds left from Appo's one I think they had a decent chance of getting it again. You guys better work on that this week. Your lack of covering up the ball on the onside has been exposed.

From what I saw, App looks much more beatable than in the last 2 years. Not near as dominant. If Poq keeps playing like they have the past 2 weeks, there will be no 3peat

Onside kicks have been done against Appo many times and until last night it has only worked one time. And just like last night appo ended up with the ball within 2 plays .

From what I've read, most all of the Appomattox posters have given due credit to how well Glenvar played. Your statement contradicting this has no credibility. I admit that I expected the Raiders to score more and was wrong. Most of the reason they didn't is because The Glenvar defense played well and they are very good up front. Better than I expected. I give them lots of credit for a well executed game plan. But some of that blame does fall on mistakes the Raiders made in the red zone that cost them points. Mistakes that had nothing to do with the defense. Those are are points left on the field. Enough to score 52? Not even close, but still some points that ended up having nothing to do with the outcome. And yes Glenvar left some out there too so probably a mute point anyway

You don’t congratulate a team on a good game and then say but we left a lot of points on the field. I know Glenvar had nothing to do with Appo leaving points on the field. Great game from both teams. Good luck to Appo in the next round. I’ve said all along 2A will earn the title this year. A lot of great football yet to be played.

Agreed.. Bailey was the big difference maker for Appo last night on a couple of big plays. QB threww a couple of perfectly thrown passes over double coverage, one on a critical third and long as well.

Those two first downs by the nose of the football on 4th down, and going for it on 4th and 2 instead of kicking a field goal with 20 seconds left in the half were critical to Appo's success. I thought the play clock screw up helped Appo manage plays without time outs and get in the end zone with only 10 seconds left but that's life. Appo plays wide open with no fear. That is for sure. I have said all along on there that the winner of Region C wins it all. I ;picked Glenvar so I'll now be pulling for Appo. Hopefully see you back in Salem at Salem Stadium week after next. Good Luck

Fort not happy unless he's trying to cause controversy
I know it’s had for you to understand what others are saying. Y’all played a great game but we left a lot of points on the field. Why not just say, we let y’all hang around so it didn’t look to bad on you. I got one for you, hey winger. You would be smart if you weren’t so stupid. Do you get the point now????????

From what I remember glenvar called timeout with 20.2 seconds and because clocked started at snap. It took forever for clock to set back right which appo gained .2 as clock went back to 20.4. Coach smith surprised everyone by running with no timeouts. Not sure we would get another play if we were stopped at 1 yd line. It definitely helped scoring before half but if not appo would have opened it up more in 2nd half as they really want to 2 -3 score lead and then grind it out. They had 2 score lead for most of the game.

Glad Bailey finally getting credit. He has played in shadows far too long. Plus Dews finally getting credit as well late in season. Everyone only wanted to talk up javon and graves all season but these two kids made it happen as well... and an improved line throughout the season.

Weaker
Of couse they are weaker, altogether the have lost like close to 30 seniors. And key explosive players.
Weaker yes but not many teams in 2A in the last 20 years would have beat either of the last 2 Raider teams. This years team is not as strong defensively but still a very good team that will take a teams best shot to defeat them. Just because their current defense is not as strong doesn't mean their defense isn't good.

There were many great plays on both sides of the ball by both teams but if I had to pick an mvp it was #11
IMO he was the difference maker! Glenvar handled him to some degree but when it really mattered there was no quit in this kid
We have to give credit where it's due. Down 17-0 at half Glenvar made a game of it. Just wanted to be close in the 4th and have a chance to win. We did that. Both teams left points on the field and I credit that to the defense's. Appo knew they were in a game.Having said that I was impressed by the sportsmanship. When Appo arrived on the field they came arm in arm, circled up on the field took a knee removed their helmets and bowed their heads. Class and they and Glenvar played with class.Game of inches!!! Proud of our Glenvar they played with heart. Appo was a little better last night
Congrats to them their coaches players and fans. Hope they 3 peat. Go Region C

Yeah, the offensive playmakers make the headlines and are shown on the Football Friday night news coverage but there are lots of unsung players on defense and special teams that are making the key stops. I like watching them.

I think the issue is his daddy did not spank his bottom enough as a child. Maybe it's not to late because best I can tell he is still a child. I think safe to say everyone is getting tired of u on this board.
