Appomattox should not take that approach to this game. It may very well be a blowout but Martinsville took a very good MV team to the wire. I think Martinsville has some talent. Taking a ho-hum approach can open the door to an underdog

Appo wins but I’ve been telling you guys Martinsville has gotten better.
Appo fans I’m with y’all but let’s not get too arrogant or cocky. I’ve seen crazier upsets.

Appo by 30. Martinsville has long road trip, used lots of energy and emotion to play MV. Appomattox is battle rested in playoffs. Home field advantage with two alphas in Graves and Scruggs plus earth movers in the lines of scrimmage. I am not saying impossible for Bulldogs but they going to need some greyhounds and Rottweilers to make this interesting. Weather will not be a factor.
Appo is obviously the two time champ but don't sleep on Martinsville. We have two Alphas also, Davis and Hairston. I know that we're a serious underdog and we shall embrace that roll. Think back last year, my Dawgs were on the road and an underdog to Graham and lost a close game to them. Graham was in dog fight the whole game and won by the skin of their teeth. Don't take the Bulldogs for granted!!!!
Ant Graham last year is not on the same level as Appo this year , hope it will be a good game , Appo depth has only improved during the season because starters haven't played a whole game since early in the season , they will just keep coming at you all nite long like phranas then before you know it is 28-0 , good luck !!
Stabler1980, it's very hard to argue against all the points you just made. 2 x state champs speaks volumes, with the threat of a 3peat. It will be an uphill battle for my Bulldawgs!!!
One thing I do know after watching Appo twice, they have best front seven in state on defense. Can have success maybe throwing the ball but did not see them give up one yard hardly rushing don't care who your backs are. Gretna and WC had their only success in the air. Gretna hung close because they realized you have to throw every down and roll the dice. Don't care if you got who your running back is, will not run the ball on them period. They that dominant up front and linebackers are bulls.
I believe that Appo has played against better teams than Union. I'd put more stock in Appo's front 7 being better.
Appo has nothing but respect for the Bull Dogs and will not take them lightly. Yes we have quite a few guy's who have seen playoff and state title experience but that is stuff for after season tales...right now it's 0-0 and only one thing is on our radar - Martinsville . The Dawgs have some skill players that will make this fun to watch. No hype here.
Best front 7? Hmmmm...I guess im spoiled by the previous 2 seasons. Like I said once before... this Front 7 HAS IMPROVED this season...but the Front 7 from past 2 seasons would not let a ONE MAN GANG like Heritage beat them. Them 2 defenses, I would have put vs anyone from 1A to 5A (2015 O Line were MONSTERS and were JUST THAT GOOD). Heritage beat Appo with 1 person this year. I enjoy watching the progression of the players listening to great coaching this year and they have got better. I know all the coaches personally and all are very knowledgeable of the game. One thing coach smith has always said to me, "Its more about GETTING BETTER during the season and not focusing on the losses." He said basically, by playoffs, a coach should know where his kinks are that needs to be ironed out or avoid all together.

I am excited to see this WR that the Dawgs have? Im in Hampton but I will def be live streaming this one. @AntGZee , You know we go way back to when my son was playing bball and QB of raiders. I have always loved your "Call it the way it is attitude." You give respect where its due.
BTW, I will save all the HORN talk (GILES) after we beat Mville being that our focus should be beating Dawgs.

TJ Pettway is a tremendous WR. The only thing about it is the inexperienced QB we have. Our QB hasn't played football in 2 years. J Hundley has done pretty decent this year. We all know that QB is a tough position to play. We'll just have to see what happens Friday.

They've played a very very good team Heritage, other than that, who are all these good teams Appo played? How many teams with a winning record did Appo beat, two?
All I said was watch Unions front seven on film, they've VERY good. Beating Morristown West is an impressive win, manhandling 3A Abingdon, etc..
Appo is the clear favorites again, but I was simply saying the Union front seven is one of the best in 2A
Front 7 in 2016 were way better period than 2015 but that's history
U are always going back to 2015 that's because your son was QB well in my opinion 2016 was the better team all of that is history it's 2017 I think he was talking about this year and by the way the o line of 16 were better with a junior qb first year 1 year bigger 1 year faster and 1 year smarter would love to see him as a senior behind that line of last year just saying

We won't know until the matchup take place how good any of these teams are in comparison. I've been around enough football to know that a team can make tremendous strides from one year to the next and sometimes within the same season. Graham's state title team in 95 started 0-2 and improved tremendously throughout the season. Blacksburg started entered the playoffs at 5-5 and won a state title just last year. I don't buy into that stuff about one team being so much better than another.
That group from last year will go in the same group as the Powell valley teams

Yeah, I'd say they compare pretty favorably to 97-98 PV.
I'd favor PV, but I'm a homer lol. That 97 team was insane.
