Appomattox 34 Gretna 0

0-0 after first quarter
13-0 with 55 seconds left in first half. Appo put on a text book "2 minute drill" and scored with 18 seconds left.
20-0 at the half.
If Gretna could have scored a couple TDs, we would have had a ball game.

Appomattox did not look as good as I had heard they were. Gretna played decent defense vs the run, but we got torched on some pass plays. Appo did break a long run late if my memory is correct.

Appomattox has an outstanding defense. It will carry them far. They held Buckingham's Leon Ragland to 54 yards rushing in week one. Ragland has averaged well over 200 yards a game since.

If a team is balanced on offense, I think they can handle Raiders. Gretna had a few yards rushing, but not much of a passing attack. Come playoff time, teams will have to throw ball to beat Appomattox.

If we only scored three more touchdowns "we would be in striking distance" *shakes head*

If you had been at the Salem-Christiansburg game in 2004 and when Salem was up 35-0 at halftime, you would have probably said Salem would win.

Appomattox sounds like a really good team, should be a great matchup against some of the teams out here in the west that can throw and run equally well. But of course there is a lot of work to do before that happens and other good teams that may get in the way of that happening, but if it does, it should be fun !

I don't think there's any 2A team that can start making plans for Salem just yet, unlike some years past.

Heck, if they would have scored 5 TDs they would have won...

Well, you hit the right IF on the head.

Really, if they would just score like 10 TDs every game they'd be undefeated. IF they could to that every game, every year, that is like the best team ever.
