This is awful. No dog in the fight here and I wish them success in filling their schedule. However, this is inexcusable why some schools can't fill their schedules in two year blocks. How many posts do we see on here with teams looking for games? It's inexcusable and ridiculous.

This is why the VHSL needs to have a coaching seminar once every two years when realignment comes out. All of the Head Coaches/ADs attend and are placed into breakout rooms by Class. District Schedules are made first and those dates are locked in. After that, Coaches/ADs can post the dates for whatever games they need and they can go around and connect in-person with other Coaches/ADs to lock in those dates.

It's not rocket science.

You could also have someone at the VHSL keeping track of the games and post them live on Google Docs so that everyone is up to date in real time. If a team has filled their schedule, then their name comes off the board.

Just about everyone should have their entire schedules for two years locked in when they leave the seminar. To have everyone in a centralized place will be helpful.

I don't know what the answer, the fix is to this problem. I think there are some factors behind this, however.

One being you have more schools scheduling out of state.

Schools are opting not to play teams within their district.

Schools might have agreements in place but then another team backs out, ex. Martinsburg v. Highland Springs.

Then you take a program like Armstrong that is not traditionally one of the heavyweights of the region so teams aren't going out of their way to schedule them.
