As a Parry McCluer fan, I want to THANK Lexington's radio station

For those who don't know, Lexington has a radio station that has both an AM and an FM channel. The FM broadcasts the Rockbridge games and the AM broadcasts the Parry McCluer games.

For YEARS, these stations were also broadcast online...for folks like myself who no longer live in that area.

That is, until this season..

See, Parry McCluer went over and whipped Rockbridge around this season. The punishment? Remove the Blues games from the internet. To make it worse, you will never hear the guys that announce the Wildcats games so much as mention a Blues score update.

So if you're a Blues fan, you're SOL. Luckily, I have great friends who happily text me after each and every Blues score. Still, I propose the businesses of BV who paid to have their advertisements broadcast on the AM station pull out of doing this next year as retribution for this BUSH LEAGUE move.

But its all good, I can assure you, 96.7/AM 1450 WREL, that us Blues fans are enjoying our undefeated season regardless of your crap.

So you think they should not announced the wildcat game,but do the blues game. Its a Lexington channel. As for the whipping y'all put on us after 15 16 hearing took ya'll and remember we lost the whole team except one ball player and a whole new coaching staff that wasn't hired until June, but I do think ya'll loose your whole team this year so wait till next year. By the way the blues was the worst team we played this year, and Go Altivista

You miss the point, I have no issue with the Rockbridge games being broadcast. What I do have an issue with is the station blatantly leaving PM out in the cold on the web link. Bush league move. Otherwise I wouldn't care less what the Wildcats do one way or another..in fact, winning some games would benefit PM greatly but that's not gonna happen.

Worst team you've played huh? That's great! That means your next two opponents will hopefully beat you 55-0 or more.

PS...it's Altavista. And I'm not sure what the "15 16" means above..are you saying Rockbridge beat PM that many times in a row? If so, that is false. It was 8 times in a row (I wont count the RC forfeit game from 2000). Thanks for playing!

I do believe what mmqp is trying to say is that it would be nice to hear the FM channel give an update of the blues. I know Buena Vista business supports 96.7. Here is an idea why don't they flip every week from FM to AM stream the games so Blues fans from across the stae can enjoy the game. For some the AM channel is very hard to pick up even in BV.

If that is the reason why they stopped covering the games, then that is pathetic. I hope that is just coincidence, because if not, those folks have some serious growing up to do.

Did you call the radio station and ask what happened to the AM internet stream? This makes no sense. If they really wanted to "punish" PM, they would just stop sending announcers to call the games altogether.

It is bizarre for sure. Personally, I have called the station and was given the email address to the owner of the station. I wrote him and was blown off. I doubt I'm the only person who has attempted to been given a "PC" answer to this.

As Prepspert said below, even the AM signal is crap in BV. I know my Mother tries to listen to the games on AM 1450 with mixed results.

I think what ticks me off is come playoff time, you can rest assured that there will be no attempt made to broadcast those games on the FM signal so that BV fans can at least listen to the entire game, even though Rockbridge's season will be long over with.


I know this all sounds ticky tack but its very disrespectful in my eyes. I know when Rockbridge made the state game in '06 a lot of PM fans were there rooting them on. And this is how we get thanked.

The AM signal is probably much better in the daytime. Maybe you will get a Saturday afternoon game instead of Friday night.
