Auburn at GW------ playing Saturday

Covington @ Haysi on Friday?Auburn @ GW on Saturday? Doesn't make since, could they've got the dates mixed up?

Ive heard from more than one person the Haysi game is Friday night so I dnt think the dates/times are switched. Covington wanted to play @ Honaker on Friday night last year so it doesnt shock me.

Does Auburn win this one with trey skeens out???.

According to the vhsl website , no mistake. I am glad the auburn game is on Saturday since I don't have to work weekends and a trip to Wytheville wouldn't be bad.......just saying more fans can attend a Saturday game imho.

Auburn has had trouble with teams with speed. I would assume even without Skeens, GW has some speed. Might be close, as Auburn can eat a lot of clock with some drives.

The coaches and AD's made the decision to play it on Saturday due to the expected bad weather Friday night. They thought it would be better for the players and fans that way. I don't think it's a bad call.

Afternoon games this time of year are good in that it isn't as cold. But the wind can be a little more of a factor than at night.

Home team sets day and time according to VHSL web, GW has speed even without the back. Will be tough to beat GW Friday or Saturday , hope Auburn wins but teams like GW, Galax etc. different talent level.

Auburn does well at moving the ball. They have got to cash it in on these long drives to have a chance. Nelson is a load! Tough game to pick. Ill think about it a few more days.

Re: Friday forecast high 43---low 25 clear skies----BRUTAL

I wish a warm front would come up from the south and stay until end of playoffs, keeping temperatures in the 70s.

The movie Hunger Games comes out Friday night, so I would say that had something to do with it.

If Sandlick is Haysi's homefield, then no they have not.

In fact, this will be the first (and sadly, last) meeting between these schools.

I was under the impression that it depends on how far the visiting has to travel on when the game is played and visiting had some say on whether it was Friday or Saturday. But I think if it's not a long haul the home team sets the date.

30's during the day, 20's at night would be even better

bring in some wind and a little flurry of snow and we have ourselves a great playoff atmosphere.... Just picking at ya HR6. Some like it warm, others like it cold, and most of that is based on the style of football we all like to see.... here is to anther year that the "G" wins it all again......

Region has set guidelines in place. The only way it can be a Saturday game is if it involves a 3+ hour trip OR teams reach a mutual agreement. In this case, Auburn had to agree with GW to play it on Saturday.
