Rumor is this is South County’s head coach. This is absolutely disgusting to hear this type of talk about the situation. We can all agree that the transfer numbers were outrageous but comparing him to a child molester and gang leader is just down right crazy.

I don't know Coach Overton, but he surely doesn't deserve this type of stereotype. Believe me there is a huge difference between recognizing athletic talent and giving a child a chance at a future and a "OG" recruiting gang members. Not even close. Certainly a horrible comparison regarding child molestation and grooming. This borderlines on unsubstantiated slander. If the speaker is a Coach he needs to be reprimanded or fired quickly. I personally applaud Coach Overton for giving kids a chance and structure through football. He just needs to play by the rules.

These are the unsubstantiated attacks that some posters felt were going on behind closed doors regarding hayfield. A black man leading a program to be successful in an area where people don’t look like him begins to foster these crazy outlandish sentiments. I guess yall wonder why the Superintendent said there was racial overtones in the conversations surrounding hayfield and yall said she should be ashamed and have egg on her face. What was the phrase where there’s smoke there’s a fire and I’m pretty sure this amounts to a more than a faulty smoke alarm.

So jealousy is not real? If Darryl Overton were 3-75 and in last place consistently no coach or fan would have much to say about anything he does or did at Freedom or Hayseed other than to talk trash. Think The 2023 Jamestown Eagles Football Club. Remember how Overtonly concerned you were with how he put that squad together and where he got his transfers? 🤡 And I'm not buying the whole race thing because there have been successful Caucasian football coaches that have received national level negative attention in the past. The best line in all sports movie history is "Attitudes reflect leadership." The VHSL and some of their head coaches and staff remind me of the saying, "do as I say, not as I do." This is especially true at private schools that hide behind religions. Did you really need to hear this tape in order to know this was the real attitude? Jealousy is real and loser coaches don't face jealousy. They just get fired. Winners get all the attention. Some good, some bad. This is bad.

I stand by the idea that Michelle Reid is a buffoon. That said, these comments about Overton are incredibly inappropriate. Whoever said that stuff should face repercussions.

...coaches should only speak on issues like these when they can (and should) use their words only wisely... my take is that this was an repugnant, ugly, inept, and badly stated attempt to describe Overton as a pied piper leading on these kids (and their parents).
