Blue Ridge placed four players in double figures to help the Barons defeat Northwood Temple Academy 65-44 at the Coaches For the Cure Classic at John Marshall High School. The Barons drained nine 3-pointers and forced their opponents to play catchup from the opening tip.

Clemson commit Aamir Simms was the star attraction and he didn't disappoint scoring 12 points including a three and grabbing 11 rebounds. He had two vicious dunks--one on an alley-oop from Josh Colon and another on a one-handed slam off the dribble.

Colon was the catalyst to Blue Ridge jumping out to a 24-13 2nd quarter lead. He finished the night with 11 points on three treys with four assists and three steals. Junior Darius McGhee led the Barons with 14 points while junior Sandaar Calhoun chipped in 13 points.

Northwood Temple cut the lead to six by halftime but the Barons but a 9-3 run push the lead back to double figures 37-25 with six minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. A steal and dunk by Simms gave Blue Ridge a 46-28 lead. The margin reach 27 before the benches emptied.
