Big Games Tonight 5/2/25
Rapp @ Strasburg
- I expect the Rams to handle business this evening, but the Panthers have a solid baseball team, and are more than capable of pulling off the upset. Rappahannock will need a better showing than in their previous game with the Rams which resulted in a 10-2 thumping at home.
Riverheads @ Wilson- Riverheads will be going for the a Split this season with Wilson. The Gladiators fell short at home the 1st time these two played 2-0. This game carries a lot of weight tonight when it comes to Shenandoah District Standings.
Madison County @ Central Woodstock- The Mountaineers will be looking to split tonight after the loss earlier in the season to The Falcons at home 13-6. Central is coming off of two losses, including a 4-3 loss to Page County, and will be looking to get back on the right track tonight when Madison County comes to town. This game could go either way, as the Falcons drastically need to get back into good form looking towards the post season. The Mountaineers are looking to climb up the seeds with a late season push.
Buffalo Gap @ Fort Defiance- After starting the season 0-5 the Fort has gotten hot as of late by going 6-2. The look to complete the sweep of district rival Buffalo Gap tonight at home. Gap will have to be better than their last home showing vs Fort which resulted in a 7-1 loss for the Bison.

Friday Results:

Strasburg @ Rapp-
The Rams continue to look strong getting the 4-0 win over Rapp Friday night. Strasburg is definitely poised to make a lot of noise in the post season, and is staying on track to clinch the Bull Run District regular season title. They have two big games coming up with Clarke County, #2 in the Bull Run, that will most likely decide the district assuming they have no other slip ups along the way.
Riverheads @ Wilson- Wilson Memorial was able to remain in control of the Shenandoah District by defeating 3rd place Riverheads Friday night 8-5. This completes the sweep of the Gladiators by the Hornets this season, and Riverheads is looking to bounce back with a win over Shenandoah District opponent Waynesboro tomorrow night @ Home.
Madison County @ Central Woodstock- Madison County showed up big time traveling to Central on Friday by getting a win in dominating fashion over the Falcons. The Mountaineers took a 7-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back as the ended up run ruling the home team 12-0 in 5 innings. The Mountaineers travel to Luray tonight and both the Bulldogs and the Mountaineers will be looking to continue to put some wins together to climb up the standings and be ready for the post season. Central has now lost three straight and will have to bounce back to good form in a hurry to be ready for the post season. Central heads to Stonewall tonight where I believe the will get the win and be able to right the ship as they look to finishing with a couple of big games against Clarke, Luray, Rapp and Strasburg left on their schedule.
Buffalo Gap @ Fort Defiance- Fort Defiance now sits in the #2 spot in the Shenandoah District after a big 13-3 run rule win in the 6th inning over Buffalo Gap. The Fort has improved to a 7-7 overall record after starting their 2025 campaign 0-5. This team appears to be getting hot at the right time, and is looking to position themselves for a post season run. Fort will be headed to Rockbridge County on Thursday, and with teams like Stuarts Draft, Riverheads, and Wilson still left on their schedule, this team will need to play well to close out the season and have a shot at winning the Shenandoah District Title.

I would love to see where the region teams are at by way of Power Points, there is still a good amount of ball to be played. While I believe Buckingham and Strasburg both sit firmly at the top, the 3-8 seeds will all be jockeying for positioning in the next two weeks. This region is definitely set up for an exciting finish, and I am here for it.
