After a long weekend of rescheduled games because of Friday night storms the last two teams finished up last night! no surprises this week as in most cases the favorites won. look in the next 4 weeks some changes in the standings as the ranked teams close to each other face off! here we go after week 7.
# 1 COURTLAND 5 @ 1 Ah we thought that the cougars may have been threatened for the # 1 spot by playing Chancellor but the upset didn't happen! the three headed monster showed its heads in the second half and Chancellor fell 34 to 13! the cougars looked beatable in the first half but the cougars of old showed up in the second half as Lawson and his two buddies took over! going to take a good team to beat Courtland! they may have showed a kink in their armor as Chancellor ran pretty good on them with JM watching! could it be? we will see in a couple weeks.
# 2 JAMES MONROE 5 @ 1 The jackets had no trouble with a under man Caroline team. DJ Weldon had a terrific game rushing for 175 yards. we talk all the time about Courtlands three headed monster but the jackets have one up on them with 4 0r 5 exceptional backs lead by Weldon. Boxley, Davis and Matt Felton and one up on Courtland a QB AJ Felton not only can pass but probably the quickest runner of them all! you can't tell much by a shut out of Caroline but the jacket defense looks good but we will see if thats the case when they play a mad Chancellor team Friday. they win that one and that Courtland game will be one for the ages!
# 3 CHANCELLOR`4@ 2 The chargers didn't hurt theirself last nite as they and Courtland tied at the half and quite frankly could have been leading. they are still relatively young and are a couple bricks from a full load. Wisdom and Dunn ran well and that all everything QB Jason Brown passed and ran well even though his stats didn't show it. he had some passes dropped including a beautiful 50 yrd TD pass dropped in the end zone. even if they lose to JM I feel they will make the playoffs and that will be good for the younger players next season because this team next year will be the team to beat in the district with almost all returning! look out teams for Chancellor not only this year but next year for sure!
# 4 KING GEORGE 3@ 3 The foxes had a laugher last week against spotsy! went down to see the game and saw the foxes score on every possession in the first half. they took 34 to 0 lead at half and Jeff Smith showed class by starting his back ups in the second half allowing spotsy to score 19 points in the 4th qtr. the knights had no answer for Jordan Alley or anyone else they ran. Alley is quick as any back in the league but had no test in a slow footed Spotsylvania team. the foxes have a chance to move up in the standings with a win over Chancellor but right now my bet is Chancellor has just a little more talent than the foxes.
# 5 SPOTSYLVANIA 2 @ 4 Little disappointed this week with my boys from post oak as after a nice win against W@L they had no answer for KG. didn't think they would beat KG but thought they would at least stay with them for a while. their lack of speed showed in that game as Jordan Alley ran at will. they were out coached and at times had 10 players on the field. I like Al Johnson but I saw flaws in the staff that was the problem the last 10 years with the other two coaches why we can't build a team out there! it was evident a the half the knights were out talented and rather than empty his bench and play his back ups and players that seldom play he left the starters in to try and score on the KG subs that Smith put in at half time. how would you feel at 34 to 0 to not get in the game after the blood sweat and tears in summer practices? that's why the spotsy kids transferred out or elected not to play the next season as the past coaches did the same thing! its too much for kids to do now days than sit on the bench losing 34 to 0 and not getting a chance to play! you need to put the kids in that will be your leaders to gain game experience to build for next year. those seniors you played the whole game in a blow out can't help you next year. after this game IMO the knights took a step back in players and coaches! Courtland is next and its going to be ugly! come on coaches If this game is a blow out play the guys that will be with you next year and build spotsy to a contender like it use to be!
# CAROLINE 0@ 6. You know I watched this game on tv and I saw some good things in Caroline believe it or not! they was destroyed by JM 42 to 0 but I saw some players that coach Yates can build from. their QB David Ware only a sophomore is tall and lanky and played well. the Robinson kid is a decent runner and they have some pretty good receivers lead by a large target DeAndre Christopher. and Brindon Williams only a junior! the only problem I see is their numbers are really down as I counted only 22 players. if they will believe in coach Yates he will eventually get the players out and turn the program around! oh by the way spotsy. coach Serbay played 50 players in this game for the second time this year. that's how you build a successful program like Serbay has in blow outs! losing teams on the short end of blow outs can empty their benches also.
here we go we head toward important games and seeding in the playoffs! looks like we may have three teams playoff bound but a lot of games need to be played to determine who they will be. its starting to get down to the real nitty gritty! GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS!
