Things seem to be going like I thought after this Fridays games! Teams are starting to gear up for the playoffs with KG Chancellor unless they fall flat on their faces will have a slot in the playoffs! JM has a pretty good chance Courtland also squeaks in with what looks like 4 wins but we shall see how it pans out in the next 3 or 4 weeks. Now lets look at the teams rankings this week!
# 1 KG: 5 @1 Yes the foxes had very little trouble with Spotsy Friday night! like most of the year it was the Jordan Alley and QB Deon Williams show! Alley ran wild on the Spotsy defense and Williams only threw when he had too. The foxes still have been impressive on defense but the only good offense they have played is Louisa but a test is coming with Chancellor on the horizon. Most importantly they destroyed a team they should have beat and they didn't look past Spotsy something they could have done. Looks like the foxes are on a mission!
# 2 chancellor: 4@ 2 The Chargers had a semi tough time with a improving Courtland team but the Chargers talent showed up at times to get past the cougars! Jason Brown hurt the cougars with his running and passing to Jenkins and Lovell Armstead had a big rushing night. Courtland has had trouble on offense but had pretty good success on the Charger defense! Chancellors defense is starting to worry me as for some reason they are not jelling. They have some excellent talent on defense with Brown and Matos etc but seem to have trouble stopping people!Tthey have enough offense to beat anyone but this defense needs to turn around or they will not last long in the playoffs so lets get on the stick Chancellor the playoffs are just around the corner.
#3 JM 4 @ 1 The Jackets are on a roll with 4 straight wins. Still a unusual JM team that had only 5 yards passing against Caroline who gave JM a fit leading only 7 to 0 at halftime. I am afraid down the road with good teams like this weeks Chancellor and KG are going to pack the box and make the jackets try to beat them with the pass. Their QB Davis is very slow a foot but has a strong arm but looks like none of their receivers want to step up and be a formidable force on offense. Their Running game is excellent with quickness and strength but I can't see them one dimensional and survive against KG, Chancellor or a good playoff team! But one thing for sure never count out a Rich Serbay team.
# 4 Courtland 2@ 4 : The Cougars are a few bricks from a full load. They stayed right in there against a much talented Chancellor team. JC has done a great job with this young team that graduated just about every starter especially on offense. They should beat Spotsy this week and Caroline and give them 4 wins and if they can slip pass JM 5 is a possibility but don't count on beating JM as thats a long shot. Still a 4 win season for this years Courtland team may get them in the playoffs and be a great year for all they loss to graduation this year.
# 5 Caroline 1@ 5 : Cav's are starting to improve with a great game against JM Friday night! They seem to be jelling a little especially on defense but their offense seems to be struggling! But with the loss of the Qb David Ware its going to take a while to get their offense going! Still a shot to get another win when they play Spotsy an if so it will be a decent season for them.
# 6 Spotsy 1 @ 5 : Spotsy ran into a buzz saw on home coming night! The foxes had to much talent for the Knights on both sides of the ball. The knights defense tackles poor and is porous! The offense has very little speed or quickness but like most Spotsy teams play hard to the very end. They still have a shot at another win at Caroline but that's about it! Don't feel Bad boys from post oak with all you been through its been a good season and better seasons are ahead!
There they are the way I see the teams with very little changes. The only district surprise is Chancellor not being number one in the district as I figured with all their talent they would win the district and go undefeated in district play and it still might happen. Be a interesting contest when they play KG later in the season but they better not look past JM this Friday! Get out and support your favorite team! There is no amateur sport like HS football!
