Season is almost over and after the Courtland convincing defeat of JM looks like the rankings are pretty much like the started 8 weeks ago! is it any doubt who number 1 is after Friday night? Courtland and JM went pretty much like I expected but the margin of victory was shocking to me! here we go as teams get ready for playoff action!
# 1 COURTLAND 7 @ 2 the cougars are back on top after they beat JM in every phase of the game! this was a trap game for JM. you knew that Courtland was going to come out with blood in their eyes and JM was in their way! the way Courtland played I don't think they could have lost to Lake Taylor Alabama or the 1962 Green Bay Packers! they played pretty much as good as possible. I think maybe this taught this senior team not to take anyone lightly as they did KG! they will win out now and after this week if you lose the season is over and now I think they realize this! Courtland is a good football team and the only way they can lose is if they beat theirself !
# 2 JM 7@ 2 after Fridays loss to courtland the jackets can work on things they have to improve on! they probably will not play a team as good as the cougars until the semi or finals! yes their run defense has to be better but you have to figure they won't have to play a team like Courtland's three headed monster. most teams have one good back so at least you can key on that back! so I think coach Serbay will use this tool as a good learning experience and watch out KG. the jackets won't be in any mood to fool around and take this weeks practice to re focus and be sort of like courtland and take no prisoners Friday night! there is no way Courtland is 42 points better than JM but on any given night this can happen! radio and TV announcer Chuck Thompson use to say YOU ARE NEVER AS GOOD AS YOU LOOK WHEN YOU WIN OR AS BAD AS YOU LOOK WHEN YOU LOSE! I think this is true in Fridays blowout! JM will be fine and advance deep in the playoffs!
# 3 CHANCELLOR 6 @ 3 A nail biter against KG Friday but the chargers got a good win with out the stud QB Jason Brown who hurt his ankle in the first quarter and didn't return! Mario Wisdom with a whopping 277 yards rushing took up the slack! now don't get me wrong but back up QB did a great job in filling in for Brown but if can't play to start the playoffs Chancellor is going to miss Brown! Hunter Kozlow did a great job but he is no Jason Brown. lets hope he returns Friday but if not Wisdom should be enough to beat spotsy but without Brown they will have a tough time surviving in the playoffs!
# 4 K G 5 @ 4 the foxes came back to earth last week after that stunning upset of Courtland. their defense that we thought was improving got hosed for 360 yards rushing and 22 first downs. this team has the athletes to beat you but I think if they do qualify for the playoffs their defense will be their down fall! their offense can score on anyone. Will Clift was 11 0f 19 for 212 yards and Jordan Alley can break a long one at any time! hope the Foxes will make the playoffs but its possible they will play Courtland first round and do you think the cougars are looking forward to that revenge game?
# 5 SPOTSY 3@ 6 hey another win for my boys from post oak! yes it was caroline but the knights offense is running as smooth as silk as Tim Coleman keeps working with them! they won the three games I figured they would win but the talent and speed just ain't there especially on defense! they will graduate a lot of seniors but their JV team is pretty good with a sprinkling of talent. you have done all right this year guys and with Michael Shelton to build on next year if you can find someone to keep the defense honest by passing just a little you, may be decent again next season! they still have a lot of work to do on defense next year!
# 6 CAROLINE 0 @ 9 how can you have a worse season than this year if you are a cavalier fan? they started with only 22 players and down to 18. Soph QB David Ware was having a great year and got hurt and the big TE De Christopher also got hurt and that was two thirds of their offense on a team that had little or no talent. this program was ruined by poor coach selections the last 10 years causing a lot of talent to transfer! but I have said many times. Caroline you have the right person to do the job! the problem I have now is Yeats going to stay around! it takes a toll on a head coach that takes such a beating as he has this year. lets hope the parents and administration let Antron coach and stay as the kids deserve better than a new coach and system every two or three years!
there we go fans the season one more weeks left! wow where has the season gone! now from the hot two a days and warm summer nights to the chilly fall nights and finally the cold playoff games we get down to the real nitty gritty as everyone is undefeated after this week but one loss and you go home saying would ah should ah could ah and watch it snow! as Michael Buffer says LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE !
