Across all Classes and Regions, which team winning do you think would be the big upset. Not necessarily an upset that you are predicting, but the one game that an upset would have the most shock value.

I say if Bird was to beat Highland Springs.

Lunenburg beating Riverheads would also be a shocker.

What say you?

I’m gonna get dragged, but Bird over HS is the most realistic upset I see this week. They’ve played the most challenging schedule in that region aside from HS.

I’d be more shocked if LT beat Phoebus.
I think you’re right. I don’t think anyone else has played a tougher schedule than bird other than Highland Springs. The only game I can compare is the Manchester game. Highland Springs has played a far better schedule though.

HS better not be looking ahead. Bird will play with reckless abandon. Nobody expects them to win, and I’m sure their coaching staff knows that HS has more talent and depth. So they will come in with a wide open game plan and take chances that they may not ordinarily take.

The Dominion District was significantly better than the Colonial this year. Competition was just better across the bridge. HS was bored for most of the year, which can be a bad thing. I hope the Springs win, but Bird will be their best challenge since Martinsburg.

Freedom scores a LOT of points, but also GIVES UP a LOT of points!

Not sure about that, exactly. 6 shutouts and 39 points given up in the regular season. They've given up a fair bit in their two PO games at 26 and 35 (they scored 70+ in each game) but you're not watching Texas Tech out there winning shootouts 55-49 each week. They're winning games on average 65-8.

Highland Springs does not play in the colonial. Play play in the Capitol with Varina Hanover and Patrick Henry. We all Saw what HS did to Manchester and they were the best of the dominion. We saw what Hanover did to Midlothian. Bird has not beat a good team all year. Highland Springs got bored because they were just that much better than everyone else on the schedule, including Manchester and Martinsburg. Everyone said Varina would give us a game and they barely crossed the 50 yard line. I really don’t expect this game to be close. If HS does not win by three or four touchdowns,I’ll be surprised.

I wasn’t talking about Highland Springs. They’re the only 5C team in the Capital. I was speaking on Freeman, GA, Herm, and Godwin who play in the Colonial compared to who Bird played in the Dominion.

I hear what you're saying - but post-season is not the same beast as regular season - teams get better each round.

I just wouldn't yet pencil them in yet....just ask Fairfax, South County, Centreville, JM, Menchville, WB...even Patriot puts up a lot of points

Didn't see the game but can 100% guess how it played out.

I've seen Cburg three times this year, they've got probably the biggest OL/DL in the state this side of Richmond regardless of classification. Skill position talent is nothing special but they're just gigantic on the lines so they'll just grind it out. Evans is a funny player. Probably all of 5'7'' in cleats (Maxpreps has 5'9'' and boy that's just so off) but built like a plug and just great overall intangibles as a player. He is all Cburg has but he's a lot. When they played Cave Spring it was 21-0 in the blink of an eye thanks to him running and throwing. He went down early 2nd Q and Cburg scored 3 points the rest of the game and had to sweat out the win.

If LCA or Heritage overlook Cburg like I feel LB did, Cburg can easily find themselves playing for a title in two weeks.
