Better get your licks in on Sussex this year, because in 19 and 20, they are going to be flat out scary good.
Sussex as i stated will be a title contender for the next 6 years after this, there are strong talent in the pipeline. Im hearing there will be an AAU team formed in the county for ages 12 - 15 to cover springball in 2019
They should be just good enough to be State Runner Up each year !
That's hard to say with most districts being mixed in classifications. If you mean just 1a, I can see that, but in the state, more than 1 will have 5-6 playoff teams
Ha. That would mean they are beating your precious red team, where you even take shots at your great coaching staff. If they are runner up each year, that means they are BEATING region 1b. But nice try to act as if Riverheads is the end all be all
The Red Team is on a down hill slide , poor turnout along with the worst coaching in the valley ! Might not win maybe 4 or 5 more titles in a row . If all that talent had not won in the past , they would have only won a couple games . They need a real coach !

Rapp will be in the discussion with the best offenses. So will W&L if they stick to the flexbone. Hard to discredit the Essex offense with Dameron running the ball.
Absolutely no way the Neck has 6 teams in the playoffs. I'm guessing more like 4 to 5.....

Mine was because someone said they might be runner up every year, if that were true then they would be beating his team. He was trying to say that no matter how good they are, they would still not get past red team, but messed up.

Lancaster and rapp missed the playoffs lasts year. While I can see them improving, if there is 6 NNK teams in that means that 2 teams from last year would be falling behind. Sussex, Middlesex, West Point, and Northampton were the other 4. A lot of people also saying Franklin is a top 10 team in the state. Which throws another team up there. Only 8 get in. NNK teams have to play each other. Even if they all split district games it's very unlikely that all 6 will get in. Sussex and Franklin have a strong SOS and Middlesex and WP have a weaker district which equates to more wins.
A very talented QB (Gaines), alot of talent at WR, & a Senior RB (Reed), O-LINE thats returning 3 or 4 guys from last year. Just My Opinion.
Middlesex will win about 5 games & West Point will win about 5 games. Rapp will beat both of them. Rapp was leading against both last year & lost at the end of the game. I think Rapp will win 7 or 8 games this year. They are my sleeper team in 1A this year. Don't forget Middlesex lost 3 of their best players & there JV wasn't that strong last year. West Point Lost a good D-lineman #72 & some key players but their 2 LBs are back but their JV was solid. King William will win that district.

TruTiger, I agree with you. Fact is, Sussex will be absolutely nasty for years to come. Since Wizard made a bold prediction of which I respect, but disagree slightly, I think the Neck gets 5 in and not 6. But....for my prediction, Sussex will win the 2020 state championship. When the poster/fan of Sussex is telling you about the talent coming up at that school, it is legit. They have that much in the pipeline.
Gunz, once again the question is asked of you. Why can you simply not disagree with someone without making it personal? Is it because Stuarts Draft hasn't won a dang thing?

Middlesex will Probaly only win about 4 games, they lost their running back which did most of the work. West Point are looking to improve this year so I wouldn’t be sleeping on them to much. Next Friday when they scrimmage Northumberland who they lost by 2 last year in the playoffs after making adjustments about thier quarterback Palmer, we’ll really have a good idea on how West Point will be looking. The King William vs West Point Rivalry game usually decides who wins the district and I know West Point hasn’t beaten them since 1990, this could be the year the could do it. If they beat them they could make some noise in the playoffs
W&L looks to be one of the top offenses in the NND. There big question is the OL. Only returning one starter from last years line. They’ve added last years 4A King George QB Senior Chase Scott 6’4” 210lbs. They still have all state WR senior J.J. McNeill III 6’3” 177lbs on one side and his brother Jr. Shane McNeill 6’4” 175lbs. on the other side. With RBs James Kelly Jr., 6’0” 168lbs., all district team last season as a sophomore and senior Markeith Rich jr. 5’11” 204lbs., they look to be a problem on paper. If they can put together an OL, look out!

I'm not counting W&L out but Bell was 75% of the offense last year if Chase Scott can do what Bell did with his feet they will be big factor in 1A. Bell was very effective running for TDs & first downs. Just Saying.
Rapp & W&L had shoutouts both games they played last year so its very possible that both teams Offenses will be explosive. How good was Scott at King George?
I agree with you on Bell. I’ve seen some highlights on Chase Scott. He looks to have a pretty Good arm. Throws a nice deep ball and is pretty accurate with his passes. And just like Bell, he runs the ball. Rapp & W&L meet up in week 4 (game 3 for both teams) in Warsaw. I just might skip Surry @Essex to come see that game. Lol. It’s all gonna come down to W&L’s OL. If they can’t protect the QB for those tall, skilled WRs to get open or block well enough to open holes for this RBs....

Don’t know his stats from last season. King George finished 3-7 last season. But he’s been battled tested from playing in the Battlefield District. Out of the 10 regular season games, all but 2 of their opponents made the playoffs and a few had deep runs like 5A Tuscarora (state runner-up), 4A Louisa (state runner-up), 5A Brook Point (3rd Round Exit), 5A Stafford (State Semi), they beat 3A James Monroe 16-14 who made it to the State Semi, 4A Eastern View (2nd Round exit), 4A Courtland & 3A Spotsylvania both (1st Round exits). He played against some talented teams. He should be ok here on the 1A level “IF” they develop an OL.

West point's schedule will put them in the playoffs. Yes they have some talent returning but, they play three teams who play independent schedules. Not to mention playing in the tidewater district. Their toughest games will come from King William and Colonial Beach. As for how many nnd teams get in Essex, Northumberland, W&L, and CB are good barring injuries. I think Rappahannock is a border team with Northampton ,Franklin, and Middlesex. As for Lancaster I think they could possibly improve on last year by a game or two as their playmaker Dameron was out for most of the season. But will miss the playoffs.

West Point last beat King William in 1998, Ben Vincent's senior year. King William returns everyone just about from last year, most of their key players last year were just sophomores. King William is setup to be a factor in the state mix for years to come. The pipeline all the way down to the youth levels is stronger than I've seen it in many, many years.

I was simply pointing out that if Sussex (being Region 1a) were to be state runner up every year, then that means they are beating 1B (Riverheads) every year.

Now to get back on topic. I think Essex will have both. The best O and the best D in the district. Speed everywhere on D and a QB on O who may be the best in Va at the 1A and 2A levels.
Ashlock is a very good athlete but he isn't the best QB in 1A or 2A. I think Palmer & Gaines are the 1&2 in the NNK & then Scott & Ashlock are 3&4 in the NNK.
I dont worry about other teams, my money is on the Sussex Central Tigers, all programs will get better im sure but im 110% certain THE TIGERS will be a dominant factor.
