Boo Williams (VA) 79, Playground Elite (WI) 69

Boo Williams dropped to 6-8 overall in a lopsided 73-52 loss to Arkansas Wings Elite, led by five-star recruit Malik Monk.

A 6-foot-3 shooting guard ranked #7 overall in the country by Rivals.com, Monk finished with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field, 3-for-4 from long distance, to go with five rebounds and three assists. Monk had 11 points at half-time on 5-of-6 shooting as Arkansas Wings held a 39-19 advantage. Eric Curry chipped in 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting in the first half.

Out-rebounded 20-13 at the half, Boo's bunch shot just 29% from the field before intermission. DeShawn Corprew was the lone double-figure scorer for BWSL with 11 points, though committed five turnovers in the first half.

The loss for Boo drops them to 1-1 on Memorial Day Weekend in Minnesota, the fourth and final stop on the EYBL regular season tour. Nike's EYBL concludes in July at the Peach Jam in North Augusta, South Carolina, which will occur during the live recruiting period that allows college coaches to attend.

Following three straight wins on the EYBL circuit, Boo Williams lost its second straight in Minnesota as Athletes First outscored them 15-5 over the final 3:48 to turn a brief deficit into a 74-65 victory.

Three-star prospect Jakolby Long led the way for Athletes First with 24 points, including a critical three-pointer that pushed the advantage to six with 1:05 remaining. Long was 6-of-11 from the field, 3-for-7 from beyond the arc and grabbed five rebounds.

Two other three-star recruits, Oklahoma commit Kristian Doolittle and Curtis Haywood III, added 14 points apiece. Doolittle collected eight rebounds as Athletes First finished with a 34-23 advantage in the rebounding department.

Boo Williams got 16 points each from Curtis Jones and Deshawn Corprew, two former Virginia-based prospects now playing in other states during the High School year (Jones in West VA at Huntington Prep and Corprew at Quality Education in North Carolina). They combined to go 13-of-27 from the field, including 5-for-13 from long range.

King's Fork small forward Keith Stagg supplied a lift for BWSL off the bench, going 4-of-5 from the foul line and 2-for-4 from the field. Stagg and point guard Matt Coleman, soon to be of Oak Hill after playing the past two seasons at Maury High in Norfolk, scored eight points apiece.

With the loss, Boo Williams drops to 6-9 on the EYBL circuit. Meanwhile, Athletes First moved to 10-5 overall.

Sitting on the bubble on qualifying for Peach Jam, Boo Williams didn't help its cause by squandering a late lead for the second time on Sunday in falling to BABC (MA), 64-63. That now drops them to 6-10 in EYBL play and 1-3 in Maple Grove, Minnesota.

Boo Williams nudged ahead, 54-52, with just over five minutes to play on Curtis Jones' third three-pointer. It was a back-and-forth battle the rest of the way with a jumper by Jahnathan Maxwell pulling BWSL within one with over a minute to play. They went up by one with 44 seconds to go when Matt Coleman made a pair of free-throws.

BABC would have a chance to re-capture the lead, but missed a shot and Boo Williams got the rebound, calling time-out. Out of the time-out with just under 10 seconds to go, a turnover occurred and Patrick Fisher - who scored only 8 points the whole game - hit the eventual game-winner.

The win marked the eighth in a row for BABC on the EYBL circuit. Tommy Mobley and Terrell Brown scored 17 points apiece. Kevin Marfo had 11 points, eight rebounds and a couple of blocks.

For Boo Williams in the loss, Maxwell was the high scorer with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting to go with six rebounds. Jones chipped in 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field.

Boo Williams suffered its fourth straight loss to close out their play in Minnesota and drop to 6-11 on the Nike EYBL as the Oakland Soldiers out of California cruised, 73-54 on Monday morning.

Five different players scored in double-figures for Oakland Soldiers with Christian Terrell (12 points), Ira Lee (12 points), Damari Milstead (11 points), Jordan Ford (11 points) and Carlos Johnson (10 points). Oakland shot a blistering 61% from the field on offense and committed just eight personal fouls on defense.

Though Boo Williams enjoyed a 38-27 advantage on the backboards, they shot only 35% from the field and 5-for-21 from three-point distance. Deshawn Corprew was their only scorer in double-figures with 26 points on 10-of-20 shooting, but he did have five of their 13 turnovers.

Despite being scoreless, Bethel 6-foot-11 center Dajour Dickens from the Class of 2017 had an impact with 11 rebounds. King's Fork's Keith Stagg chipped in nine points and former Woodside guard Devante Carter added seven.

While it is not official, it looks very unlikely that Boo Williams will receive a spot to participate in Peach Jam, the EYBL Finals, held in North Augusta, South Carolina during the July live recruiting period. They are only eligible for one of the wild card berths, not an automatic spot, and there are teams with better records who are also eligible for those spots.
