Union defense was SMOTHERING. Cormany never got comfortable, Bartee and Honeycutt did a fantastic job on him. Union withstood Radford run in the third and kept in it and closed it out with some fantastic defense and a HUGE 3pt bucket by Rasnick who was hounded by Prileou all day. Wow. So happy for these kids, they've earned it.

Union’s height/talent will match up well with East Rock.

Safe travels from the Valley to SWVa!

Exciting game to watch , especially late. Both teams pressured the basketball and Union harassed and stayed close to Cormany all evening. Radford ended up shooting like 11% from 3. Union had a great hustle play late in 3rd quarter that was a microcosm of how hard they played. Union turned the ball over and it looked like an easy 2 on 1 break for Radford and a kid for Union was on a dead sprint and had a last second deflection to prevent Radford from scoring what would have been a wide open lay up.

BTW - Union's announcer was great throughout the game, made it easy to follow, probably the best I've heard since using NFHS network.

they don't quite run as big as Nickel but the length gave Radford all sorts of problems inside. Radford adjusted second half by having the kid Bunch was guarding step out to keep him away from the bucket but Union was still able to force some turnovers and make a very experienced and talented team really struggle for every bucket.

So many times, it just comes down simply to who is better than who. Union was a better team than Radford. Radford was solid, but Union just has a special team in which the 5 guys on the floor can flat out play ball. Union handles the ball very well and it showed. Our kids were a little stunned in the first half at how well Union handled it and the turnovers were not coming easy for the Bobcats. In the 3rd quarter, we rattled Union just a bit, but Union can also play defense, not just offense, and Union held us off with their defense and put the clamps down with one shot and done for the Bobcats

A very well coached team that does everything well. Ball handling, defense, passing, rebounding, shooting, etc. Just a solid basketball team and a better team than Radford. No surprise whatsoever that Union won and for fans around the state of Virginia not familiar with Union, this was not an upset. The better team won the game and East Rock better be ready because Union will bring it.

That M7 district is very, very good. From Gate City to Union and Abingdon, there's a reason two teams from the same district are playing for state titles. If you count girls hoops with GC, it's 3 teams playing for titles. When GC is the third or 4th best team in Hoops in a District, that tells us all we need to know about how solid that district is. I'm looking forward to watching the Union and East Rock game. Its going to be one heck of a contest.
