51 to 50 - George Mason leading Stuarts Draft headed into the 4th

Looks like the Stuarts Draft boys have used another one of their infamous late-game runs to take control of this one.

Draft boys lead Mason 62-51 with 5:31 remaining

Cougars lead 67 to 53 with just under three minutes left in the fourth

2A East First Round: Stuarts Draft 75, George Mason 58.

Cougars use strong fourth to advance to quarterfinals.

Not a big surprise, but I picked George Mason because of the home court advantage. Stuarts Draft has lost 6 of their 7 games on the road, with their best road victories coming at Page County, and vs Page County at RE LEE in the conference 3rd place game. Good job Cougars! Let's do it again in the quarterfinals.

Regardless of who SD plays, the outcome rarely surprises me, as their style of play is so different from anything else you really see. The way they play lends itself to being able to beat anyone but also being able to lose to anyone on any given night, mostly due to their dependence on the three ball.

I was kinda' glad SD went to Mason instead of Madison. If you "slow them down" they still put up a lot of points. Mason just had no depth. Kept it close for a while though. Looking more and more like 36 might get 3 teams in region semis..

I arrived in the second half for the game - the 6:00 start time hurt! - and the difference in the size of the Stuart's Draft team and the Mason team was stark. Mason had nobody other than #23 Greene that could match up size wise with the Draft kids. The fact that Mason was ahead leading into the 4th quarter was a testament to them. They only play 6 players and the pace of the game simply wore them out. SD just sent wave after wave at them and eventually that was the difference. Great season Mason and best of luck next year! Good luck to SD as well, they look like they will be a very tough out for their next opponent.
